  an emerald hanging upon a cliff in a the middle of Aegean sea in Astypalea

  An excellent boutique hotel , very clean, with very high standards, breathtaking location ,very polite and friendly hosts and stuff . The place is amazing and the people there in the hotel make you fee really like home , very willing and helpful. Very highly recommended to spend marvelous vacation in one of the most beautiful islands of Aegean sea, Greece. A life experience.

  Bourgonvillea, pool, views, what's not to like?

  Billy picked us up from the airport. It was his first year at Kilindra, and he was a charming and helpful host. The entrance to the studios is not very inviting, with an unguarded set of steps to the side of the entrance. A Grecian urn would help. Having avoided this trip hazard, you go through a gateway and there are then a set of steps to the pool and reception area. There are three studios by the pool, and the other five units are further down. All face the sea. That's about all they have in common, so choose with care. Some have sinks and coffee makers. Some are split level, with little headroom above the upstairs bed. Some have large shady terraces. There were clean towels every day. The pool is small, and deep with no part where you can stand up, so it's greAt for a swim or cool off, but not to stand around in. There are, for some reason, five loungers, but plenty of chairs. Billy puts the umbrella up if its not too windy. It's a nice place to sit and chill. Breakfast was included in our room rate. Fresh bread, cold meat, jam, cake, honey and yogurt. Fresh fruit came with the yogurt sometimes, but it was often glace apricots. Breakfast quality was fine but it got a little boring. We asked for eggs, as they had chickens on the premises but never got any. Short walk to the chora, where the square and nearby street has some of the finest Greek food we have had in forty years although I do wish the tavernas would do more to discourage the cats around, under and even up on the tables. There were over 20 one night. On our last day, we were kindly allowed to keep our room until time to leave. Always good.

  Excellent location, unbeatable experience

  Situated barely 200 metres from the busy main square of Chora, Studios Klindra offers as calm and relaxing a location as possible. The views of the bay and the secluded beach just a couple hundred metres below from the rooms are breathtaking. The pool is perfect and the rooms very comfortable. But the best of all is the welcoming, helpful and very friendly staff. A highly recommendable hotel.

  Boutique does not do this hotel justice

  After the taxi dropped me off , i walked down the steps (billy was very upset that i had carried my bag down myself ,but more about service later) and entering into the hotels reception was more like going into someones home (in nice way) definitely not your normal hotel reception. After a welcoming drink i was shown my room...... wow the view, was really jaw dropping !!! I may use !!! a lot on this review ...But if you go to this hotel your see why. My room was amazing ,so so different from your normal hotel....furniture and decor are a delight, with a great touch of Greek history/culture. The room was wonderfully comfortable, and well pointed, cd player, sky tv and dvd player with usb port. Free AC and my my personal favourite variable speed ceiling fan. But my room most amazing feature was its view .... omg talk about sea view, sitting outside the room watching the sun go down.... well it gives Santorini a run for its money. Breakfast is taken in what feels like someones very comfortable lounge with the most wonderful view. Breakfast itself was amazing .....all the usually stuff plus every day Billy cooked a amazing Greek speciality, i stayed for five nights and every morning there was something different, my personal favourite was a dish that looked like pizza but was not. Pool and its surrounding area are gorgeous with the most amazing views and very quiet when i stayed apart from the most amazing Italian couples who invited me to olives and wine around the pool.... i think this sums up atmosphere of this hotel , so so relaxing and friendly. As for service.... Billy, the hotels (but it does not feel like a hotel) man- Friday can,t do enough for you and Yannis , well he really makes you feel as if your not a guest but a friend who has come to stay. i can not recommend this hotel enough ...... A quick word on the town of Chora..... quiet in the day, castle has great views ,go early as steep climb. At night there are few good tavernas in main town, i didn't go down to port but heard that there are good ones there too....But Chora has the most amazing cocktail bars, with wonderful views of castle and port, its so quiet in the day ,but at night comings to life in a nice way , not banging loud, just lovely busy ,with great friendly atmosphere. Astypelea has some in creditable beaches with great tavernas get out there and enjoy.

  You will be really surprised when yo get to this hotel in a positive direction

  This was the final stop on a 3 week island tour for my wife and I. My wife had always wanted to visit the "butterfly" island and she was excited to fulfil her ambition. The trip did not start well as we arrived in the early hours of the morning and the taxi the hotel arranged did not turn up. We phoned the hotel and someone waiting for us arranged for the taxi to return. We spent approximately an hour waiting outside for the taxi an at that time of the morning it was very cold. When we eventually arrived the person in the hotel showed us to our room. We found out later that there are only two taxis on the whole island - taxi 1 and taxi 2. If one is arranged they do not look out for you or have a card with your name. It turns out our taxi did turn up on time but someone else took it. We were absolutely shattered by now so effectively collapsed into out beds and put the horror story behind us. Next morning when we awoke we could really take in the contents of the room properly. It was amazing and styled like a traditional greek dwelling. We then moved out onto the terrace and what we saw made the horrible journey to get there completely melt away. We were right next to the pool looking out to sea. A great start (eventually) for the 9 nights we were staying here. The reception is exactly as someone else described - you walk into someone's lounge area. Breakfast was served and held in a small but functional conservatory. It was a typical greek continental breakfast with lots of home made items including jams. The location of the hotel is very close to the main square of Chora. It was a pleasant walk down to the centre which had a series of bars, cafes an restaurants. At the far end was a series of windmills, many of which had been renovated and turned into functional dwellings including a library. They certainly give the ones on Mykonos a run for their money. The geography of Chora is very interesting and unusual . The restaurants etc. and the windmills are on a really wide ridge with an extremely steep climb on one end of the main road. On one side of the ridge the road drops off gradually down to a fantastic beach. On the other side of the ridge a road drops down very quickly to the harbour and bay. You definitely need strong legs and walking boots to fully explore just this immediate area.
