  Albergue a precio de hotel.

  Para empezar el día que llegamos era festivo y la recepción cerraba a las 15 h. Te lo dejan todo preparado dentro, pero tienes que llamar por teléfono y te dan la clave para entrar. Hubiera sido un detalle que te mandaran un mail para avisarte. La habitación estaba bastante bien, y el desayuno normalito.

  Not a super hotel, but a nice find!

  Good location for walking around the town. Near the train station and on the smaller canal. Check-in was quick and staff was helpful with parking instructions and restaurant reservations. Room was very clean, on the small side, with a smaller bath (shower, no tub) and a small balcony but no functioning window. Free wi-fi. No staffed desk for the evenings and overnight, but youre given a key for the front door. And the items that one might need (extra pillow, extra blanket, extra toilet paper, fan, etc.) are available in the lobby. Breakfast is fine. Yes, would return.

  Well worth the money!

  Just went through Vanersborg on my vacation with the family and Strand Hotel was perfect place to stay. Nice clean rooms and the staff was very service minded. At the evening we had a good diner at a Istanbul barbecue place!

  This is not a hotel

  It is inconceivable to us how a pretty, historically interesting - albeit small - town like Vänersborg does not have a hotel. Nobody seems able to explain this to us. The "Strand hotell" is certainly not a hotel. It could perhaps be named a B&B or rather a hostel. Hostels are usually placed in the very centre of town, as the Strand is, there is usually not a staffed reception around the clock, but when someone is at reception, they are usually very friendly - it's all like that at this illustrious place. The one staff member locks up at seven and turns out the lights. There are a couple of rooms but you will find yourself transported to 1982, which is surely when these rooms were equipped. We have never, ever seen saggier beds - they were practically touching the floor. The sheets were so scratchy we were chaffed in the morning, the pillows were more like lumpy sofa cushions and must have come from that ancient time, too, 1982. Don't even think about a minibar, a safe, AC, hairdryer... well, you get it. You will get coffee and some bread in the morning. And if you can get inside after 7 p.m. when they lock the place, you will get a room to stay in during the night. So OK, two stars for that. But I'm being generous.

  Overnight Stay

  Good location just a short walk from train station. A lovely B&B, the room we stayed in was on the 5th floor and was clean and very spacious. Breakfast was continental style which is to be expected and very enjoyable, although I did miss a nice cup of English breakfast tea. A lovely stay indeed and I would love to come back some day
