  Pleasant stay on the Baltic sea

  This is a modern first class hotel just steps away from the beach in one of the quieter areas of this north-east German island. The room we stayed in was in the newer wing, and was spacious and comfortable in all respects, with a balcony overlooking the sea. Breakfast is excellent - a huge buffet with a wide selection of foods, both hot and cold. I particularly enjoyed the many good loose-leaf teas. Dinner is tasty, with a menu based on German food leavened slightly by international influences. The wine list needs more thought, although there are some reasonably good German wines to be found.

  More than satisfying stay

  Our room (4-person studio) had a partial view of the sea and it was very clean with comfortable beds. Everyone was very kind and keen on making our stay as enjoyable as possible. We were warmly welcomed with flowers. The SPA was excellent: luxurious, clean and not crowded. Breakfast was also great and with big variery. The only downside was that after 21:30 there was absolutely nothing to eat in the hotel (kitchen closed, no snacks served in the bar, no vending machine). Plus the ladder in our room was a bit unstable and created a feeling of uneasiness.

  Right on the beach!

  We felt very comfortable at the Strandhotel. It was so close to the beach that we often went for an early morning hike along the beach before returning to a fine breakfast buffet. The hotel's personnel were pleasant and accommodating.

  Comfortable hotel in good location

  The hotel is right on the beach, and our room was comfortable. The included breakfast was excellent. The decor is extremely dated - there was nothing particularly attractive about the look of the hotel. From the beach it did have a sort of classic charm. It was convenient being right on the beach, but it felt slightly expensive overall (1000 euro for 4 nights). The staff were helpful, and as a service they picked us up from the train station since we came without a car. Our loft room also had a nice balcony and a lovely sea view. It was quiet at night. We ate 3/4 dinners on site. The food was ok, but it was easier than trying to travel to other locations without a car. We had a loft room, so our son slept in the lofted area. They did warn me that it was high, but this is a room suitable for kids who are good climbers. The ladder is straight up about 10 or so feet. I was a little nervous watching our 4.75 year old on it, but he was find and loved the novelty of climbing up to his bed.

  A great stay

  We had a very good time and enjoyed the delicious breakfast buffet. The large pool and sauna a's well as fitness club are great. The location direct on the beach is wonderful with great views aND private parking. We will come again.
