    Excelente lugar. estupendas vistas

    Beautiful Lake in the Alps

This is a hotel I would love to return to because of the wonderful room and location. It is family owned, updated, and we thought the staff was very professional and welcoming. There is a dock in front on the lake, so swimming in the glacier lake was a blast (it was over 90 degrees-unseasonably warm). We also enjoyed the restaurant with a fabulous view! My husband was able to mountain climb nearby on Schafsberg. Wolfgangsee is a gorgeous lake with a charming town. We had the best time and are thrilled we extended our stay by one night.

    Hotel living in the past.

My room was shabby with dull features especially the large framed portrait of people from a past era hung askew and adorned with such an accumulation of dust and cobwebs of which one imagined it would be possible to cultivate vegetation in it. A small table was provided with chairs but to in order to stabilise it from wobbling all over we had to improvise with cardboard jammed around it. A redeeming feature was the view of the lake and a small balcony. The staff were found by many guests as well as us to be of a very dour and dull nature, like the tired and worn hotel. When simple requests were asked we were looked upon as if it was an intrusion. As a couple of experienced travellers to Austria for over twenty years and have a decent command of speaking and understanding German we are very familiar with the culture of Austrians and usually have respect for them but not in this case. The owner who is an aficionado of jazz 'music'? has a penchant for having it piped throughout the hotel from breakfast to dinner and all evening. Despite requests from a number of guests to have a different genre/selection of music played instead of the same endless, monotonous repeated jazz numbers these went ignored. Hence after dinner many took their leave and went out.

Lovely hotel with good restaurant and excellent staff

We loved our stay here. The location is perfect, easy walking distance into town but in a quiet location on the lake. We stayed in two rooms over our stay, thanks to a complimentary upgrade, and whilst perhaps a little tired both were nicely decorated and very comfortable. The communal areas are stylish and comfortable, and the terrace has wonderful views over the lake. Breakfast offered a good range of options. The restaurant was very good for both lunch and dinner, although I would recommended exploring the options in town as well. Whilst the hotel has a private beach on the lake, it is across the road and has no facilities. However this wasn't a big inconvenience and seems quite usual. By and large the staff were very friendly and helpful, forgiving our almost non-existent German! We'd definitely recommend staying here and would be happy to return.
