  An exceptable stay

  Staff a bit aloof,no toiletries provided, no tea or coffee facilities. Surprised that we couldn't put our evening meal on our bill. Chef a little heavy handed with the salt and the sauces that came with the meal appeared to be from a packet.

  Sunset by the Lake side....

  What a gem of a hotel. Right on the main road around the Mohne Lake this hotel is situated on the lakeside with reclaimed land at the rear giving stunning views over the lake. The staff are typically German. A bit aloof and not all multi lingual - which is a challenge for hotel staff - but they are friendly and typically German efficient. Our room was on the road side of the hotel on the second floor and was very adequate. We had twin beds, German Tv and a small kitchenette area. Shower room with a nice hot powerful shower. Beside the hotel is an associated restaurant where they serve a limited dinner menu and a full breakfast. We took advantage of both - which we were able to add to our room costing. Dinner on the terrace overlooking the lake is sublime. The food, although a guess as to what it was due to my language failure, was hot fresh and tasty - and plenty of it. Cold beer - really refreshing. We even managed a swim in the lake via the private steps off the reclaimed terrace at the back of the hotel. COLD. Really COLD...but sooo refreshing. It just has to be done.

  A Great Relaxing Getaway

  My Wife & I just had a few Days break here, to try & recharge the Batteries. I can honestly say, we are fully recharged :-) The Hotel Owner & Staff are all excellent. Don't be put off if they seem a little aloof at first - it is the Sauerland/German way, & they will do anything to make your stay as good as they can. The views over the Lake from the Hotel Grounds are amazing - you are literally at the Shoreline. I strongly suggest being up just after Dawn in the Summer to see the morning mist cover the Water & watch the many varieties of Birds taking their first flights of the Day. Bikes are available to Rent from the Hotel - a tiny EUR 5 per bike per Day. You can Bike or walk around the entire Lake, but that is 40 Km!! However, there are several Bridges spanning the Lake so you can make your "Round Trip" shorter. Also for Rent is a Pedalo Boat & a Fishing Boat, both also very cheap & moored right below the Lawn, with steps leading down to them. Breakfast is excellent - fresh cheeses, meats, Hard Boiled Eggs & Cereal; but don't expect scrambled eggs, sausages & bacon - this is much more the traditional Continental Breakfast. For afternoons they do a wonderful Apfelstrudel. Dinner Menu is good but limited, however there is a great Italian Restaurant 400 m away so you can have a change of pace! Free WiFi, nice shower, clean nicely furnished rooms, & the bigger ones have a kitchenette. Nothing negative to say - it was a wonderful short vacation; too short in fact so we will definitely be going back!

  Wonderful location, but overpriced for the outdated interiors.

  The lake view apartment was very nice - easy access 24h, with spacious rooms and wonderful view at the lake. Watching the sunrise over the lake was magnificent every single day. Staff was nice and polite - nothing exceptional. The interior of the rooms would benefit from some remodeling - considering price. We found the hotel to be slightly overpriced - especially for the outdated design and facilities. The main issue were limited parking spaces. Even in late November we had troubles finding a parking space close to hotel, ending up parking illegally at the front of the yacht club. Some consideration of this issue by the owners would be nice (e.g. parking permit to keep the car overnight at the yacht club). Another issue was internet, which just did not work. After we raised the issue at the reception desk, the wifi signal was observed, but without clear instructions n how to connect. Having said that we definitely recommend to stay there, but try to negotiate the price with the owners. 50 EUR outside the main season should be a maximum per person or 65 EUR for double occupancy.

  Different

  Stayed for one night on business! Setting unbelievable but Hotel itself needs a massive revamp!! Very old rooms and my Room in the Cellar very dark and dingy! No Restaurant at all or drinks machine but a pizza resraurant next door! Otherwise a short car journey to the next village! Breakfast adequate! Needs a good lick of paint and upgrade!
