  Relaxing in Liguria

  This is a great hotel price/quality wise. Clean and practical rooms, ample space and a beautiful balcony if you have a sea side room. I would recommend this to a room at the front of the hotel, cause you can relax and sit at the balcony in the evening, with a book! We were greeted by the very friendly staff, and were quickly convinced to stay at the hotel for lunch and dinner. There's more than enough food there, and you can enjoy the local cuisine, without having to worry about where you're going to eat. We really needed a worry-free vacation. At breakfast (which is very nice for Italian standards), you choose your lunch and dinner from a menu, with options for fish, meat, vegetarians, and every meal starts with antipasti. The service of the restaurant is quite good, with the typical Italian humor. I wish my Italian was better! Sometimes, there was not enough time between courses, but you can just let the staff know and they'll take it into account. The private beach is great, and there's a beautiful terrace overlooking the sea. When we left, we received a nice gift, which gave the whole experience an extra nice touch. Some people complain about the train at the front. It's really not that bad. Really, go there! We'd love to come back for a longer period of time.

  Best place in Diana Marina

  This is definitely the best value for money choice you can do in the district diano till andora. Clean, elegant, excellent location with private beach and especially a very kind and nice staff. You must go there!

  A relic from another time in many ways

  On the outskirts of the small village of Diano Marina, right on the beach and with a fantastic terrace overlooking the bay you'll find this cute family owned hotel. It reminded me a lot of my childhood vacations with my parents in the 60s. It is as from an other time, without aircondition, with small rooms crammed with bed, fridge, wardrobe, table and chair. With small toilets and leaking showers and it seamed as the hotel still had an air of the 60s. Still it was very clean, the breakfast was great and served on the terrace which was very nice exept that smoking was allowed on the terrace at breakfast and we were unfortunate to stay at the same time as a couple of great smokers. That was unfortunate of course. The beach area was tidy, the chairs not expansiva and over all the beach area was very well kept and the water was lovely. The staff was nice, extremly serviceminded and very professional, exept for one elderly gentleman that served in the bar on the terrace in the evenings. When we artived we got two small vochers for a drink at the bar. After dinner on our first day we sat down in the terrace to have a coffee and a drink and waited for the gentleman to take our orders. It was about 21.00 a clock. People were sitting on four other tables than ours. He attended the other tables and completely ignored us. We waited. When he had attended them all, talked a little with each one of them and passed us several times we started to wave a little to get his attention. Nothing happened. He turned his back to us and started to chatt with one of the tables which he continued to do for 7-8 minutes. It was now 21.45 and our patience had dropped to zero. Therefore I asked him if he had the time to help us with two cofffee. He immideately started arguing about the table that we were sitting at and rather bluntly accused us to have moved it instead of taking our order. We were totally surprised about his reaction so I raised my voice and said loudly that 1) we had not moved the table, 2) we had been trying to get his attention for 45 minutes, 3) we are not in the habit of interrupting discussions, 4) he was the one that ignored us and 5) could we please have our coffee before midnight. Finally he served us, we left the vouchers and never again sat foot on the terrace when he was working! An extremely unpleasant experience that left a bad mark on an otherwise nice stay!

  A human size hotel with human staff

  We wanted a beach hotel. We got it. We wanted a clean family style hotel. We got it. We wanted a friendly staff hotel. We got it. We wanted a « no-groups hotel ». We did not get it. Unfortunately this size of hotel can only survive economically in September, if they get groups. Having said that, the staff, all the staff, made sure we are treated DIFFERENTLY, as private guests and not part of a tour. It made a big difference. One thing you should check on your room, is the safe. If, regardless of the code you use to lock the safe, you can open it by keying « 000000 » six zeros, then you need to be selective on what you put in the safe. Not that we experienced anything negative, but it is important to be aware if that.

  This year we made an exception to return to this same place

  For the first time ever, my wife and I decided to return to the same region in Italy, the same town and the same hotel. We were not disappointed at all. The staff was as nice and good as last year, the food quality was same standard, the family atmosphere still there. The only disappointment is the same junior suite we had stayed in last year and this year still had the same deficiencies which we had hoped they would be fixed but were not: shaky and wobbly furniture (I had to fix the chest of drawers every day), the bathroom, the "bath tub" (old generation 3/4 tub) and the shower really need a redo to meet junior suite standards. They fixed the room safe box which became safer... Apart from that everything thing was as pleasant as expected.
