DisappointingMy family stayed in the 4 bedroom Retreat in early January 2021. We were very disappointed with the presentation of the accommodation. Dead flies on the window sills, dirty and old carpet in the lounge room, smelly and uncomfortable lounge suite, windows in the lounge room that were unable to be opened, the towel rack in the ensuite fell off the wall every time you tried to put a towel on it, the windows in the kitchen were so filthy that you actually could not see out of them when the sun shone on them, torn fly screens that did not keep out any flies at all, bare light bulb with no shade in the 4th bedroom, a hole in the wall under the "desk" in the 4th bedroom that was at perfect eye height when you were laying in bed, broken vertical blinds in one bedroom. For a cottage that sleeps 10 people it has the smallest fridge. You would not be able to store enough food in it for 10 people and yet the kitchen has an amazing amount of wasted free space. The kitchen table is also not big enough to seat 10 people. The cottage is directly behind the office and take away fish and chip shop, so the cottage smells of old fish and chip oil constantly. It was quite nauseating really. The internet did not work the entire time we were here. We could not log onto the internet at all and the office people did not know or really care what the issue was. The grounds are very nice and the platypus walk is a nice way to end the evening, but it was disappointing that we could not have a fire. I would not stay here again. It certainly was not value for money and in fact we left a day early.

Small cabin but quiet atmosphereNo issues other than it was a little expensive for what you get. Cabin was clean and well presented. The location lends itself to bugs but flyscreens kept them at bay. Close to facilities including bottle shop, take away, laundry.

Certainly not the best park that we stayed in while in TasmaniaWhen we arrived we were given a site close to the main amenity block. When I walked over to it, there were a lot of out of order signs. I asked the people in the site next to me and they said they had been on for a few days. I opened the doors 3 toilets - 1 out of order + 2 available 3 showers - 2 out of order + 1 available The park was fairly full with more vans coming in, the same people said it was completely full the night before. There was a smaller amenity block down the road, so had a look there were 2 rooms in that one, with a shower and toilet. Still seemed quite light on for the number of guests. I went into the reception and spoke to the young woman, why is there only 1 shower available in the main amenity block? She was quite abrupt, no there are more and then proceeded to draw me a picture of the amenity block with x on the ones out of order at the end of which there was 1 functioning shower which is exactly where we started our conversation. She basically shrugged and said they were out for cleaning. I have never heard of showers being out for cleaning for over 24 hours? I went back to the van and searched for alternatives, more due to the really odd and lacklustre service but everything was booked out. The park itself is ok, very basic camp kitchen, one small BBQ and somewhat uneven sites, but since we were there for the world heritage cruise we decided to stay and shower at odd hours to avoid the queue. The reason this did end up a 3 instead of a 1 or 2 is upon our return from the cruise all of the showers and toilets were back open, apparently the lengthy clean must have been completed?

Lap of TasmaniaThe location is good as a part of the lap of Tasmania but the cabins, at $150 plus per night, leave a lot to be desired. No towel rails, although the holes in the wall are still there where they once were, no hand towel hook, no tissues, no face washers, a TV monitor so small you would reject it as a computer monitor, the shower screen door wouldnt shut so water ended up on the floor, holes in the ceiling and exhaust vent cover. Crikey, if youre not prepared for the hard work, find another career choice!! And they cant even have 2 decent wine glasses!!!
