  Hotel review

  Absolutely loved the theme of the hotel. Gourmet food. Service not what you'd expect from say a chain group. Has a lovely lake just behind and is connected to the town library and mall. I wouldn't stay here if I had the kids with me as it gets a little eerie in the evening! Location seems great.

  Surprising Design, comfy, good place to stay

  Very dynamic and smiley receptionnist welcomed us which was a good boost of energy after a long drive. Common space and room are well decorated. The bar is a good place to go to chill a bit; Locals and tourists enjoy it. Location is perfect.

  Keeping old style

  Visited this nice hotel a couple of days early February and was positively surprised. Can strongly recommend a stay at Stora Hotellet, its kept old style in a very nice way. Theme is sea-style as Umeå being old important harbour for northern Sweden. Perfect bed for my taste. Friendly staff and nicely presented breakfast.

  All I wanted from a Hotel here.

  Stayed four nights is a single room. The interior of the room, well, they tried to make it look like the interior of an old ship, I think. Dark colours, brass. Even a huge brass "picture frame" around the television. Maybe not my taste but well done an it all worked fine. Good large bed, slept well here, good bathroom, all very well, a bit cramped: Having a lot of stuff -wintersports gear, rather large suitcase etc- it was a bit small, high ceiling and so forth but hardly no floorspace left. No problem, the rest of the hotel provides lots of likeable different spaces to dwell -the library, wouw!- to sit eat and drink or to do nothing in. Breakfast: Good, nothing to whish for, it's alle there, in a very comfotable environment. If I ever return to this part of the world, could just happen, I'll be back in this place also.Stayed four nights is a single room.   Nice Hotel BUT doesn't worth FIVE stars!!!

  The location of the Hotel is nice, and the view over all is cool. But the room was too small and there were many things that not available such as closet, bathrobe, refrigerator, water kettle, coffee and tea. And the curtain was not fixed probably. Also, the breakfast is limited comparing with FIVE stars hotels I have been in all over the world. But on the other hands, the stuff are so friendly.
