Disappointing stayMy husband and I stayed at this property in the mid 80s and it was lovely. Sadly, returning with my sister in 2013 on and RCI exchange we were very disappointed. The property has not been properly maintained. The deck entrance to our one bedroom unit was badly in need of paint and the storm door didn't close. Though the furnishings were appropriate, there were stains on upholstery and curtains were faded. Books used as decoration were covered with mold. The bedding and mattress were very musty. Framed print were covered with mold. The bathroom had mold on the ceiling and the caulking around the tub was moldy. The unit is cooled by a single very old air conditioner in the bedroom. It was necessary to run it during the hot weather but it smelled moldy as well. The kitchen was adequate and clean but dishes and silverware were in short supply......only three cups and two teaspoons for example in a unit that is designed for 4. The manager is not in residence and was not reachable at the emergency number. When she finally returned calls she was defensive and argumentative. She refused to acknowledge the mold and would not provide replacement pillows or bedding. She adamantly refused to change units though only three of 8 or 9 units were occupied for the entire week. As a former innkeeper of a Victorian inn and lover of historic buildings it was sad to see how this once lovely property had declined.

Stonegate has a lot going for itIt's not the Ritz, if you're looking for that kind of pampering. Stonegate is a quicky, historic property on nice grounds with eight great apartments, each with different character. We've been going back year after year, every July, staying in a 2-bedroom, 1-bath unit with a little balcony off the kitchen on the second floor. The location is central to everything you could want in the Berkshires -- excellent restaurants and shops in Great Barrington, hiking and lakes nearby, and just a short drive from the quaint little towns, theatre, dance, music (of course Tanglewood) -- all the things that define the culture of the Berkshires and the reason you go to the Berkshires. The steps may be a little creaky and it's a little out of date to see a VCR and big old-fashioned TV in the livingroom (along with a CD player) -- but that just adds to the character of the place! On balance, it's a great place to stay with all the basics you need to experience the best of the Berkshires.

Lovely Location! Stay just OKThe Berkshire snow-covered area is just beautiful ! The mansion is located in Great Barrington, a very fun-upscale town. Nearby are other quaint towns such as Stockbridge, Lenox, Lee, Pittsfield, There is a lot to see and do if you stay at Stonebridge. For example, we really enjoyed the beautiful Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge. Avoid going in the winter. The winter-radiator heating of the Stonebridge Mansion is unreliable. We woke up to 85 degrees In the middle of the night. With difficulty, my husband opened the windows to cool it down so that we could sleep. Having said that, we enjoyed our second-floor apartment! It was a very large, 2 BR , 1 bath, with nice large kitchen. We would like to return to Stonebridge Mansion again in the Fall.

Quaint old world charmWe checked into a two bedroom two bathroom unit on Friday. We were greeted by a nice Italian woman and her awesome little dog in the office. We were given the remote controls to two very small television sets that did not work correctly and either room. We had a two bedroom two bathroom unit with a kitchen. The kitchen was not really stocked very well they were basic cooking utensils and nothing more. The few pans provided were lower quality. We were given a provision of three small cheap towels for each bathroom not sufficient for the amount of people we had here. I did like the big bathroom in the master bedroom though. Stonegate is located in a quaint neighborhood of great Barrington Massachusetts. We came during the peak of the leaf changing season in early fall. The area certainly offers many good restaurants theater and shopping and the neighboring towns are incredibly beautiful especially Hudson New York and Bennington VT as day trips. The Internet in the units are extremely weak don't expect to be playing any videos. But this is a charming beautiful and historic restored house that is been changed into seven units. We certainly appreciated the charm although one night the temperature dropped to 35° and it being an oil burning building the radiators and heat never went on and we did get very cold on several evenings. I recommend bringing a heated blanket if you're coming in the winter. The windows do not open and there are two or three standalone room air-conditioners that are not in the wall but they stand but I didn't see heat on it. Again it is lovely and it is charming there are two beautiful fireplaces that unfortunately are not working fireplaces but nonetheless very pretty to look at. So remember you're not staying in a modern condo unit you're staying in a historic restored building that's quirky that's charming and each unit is individually decorated. Enjoy it for what it is

Surprised it was an RCI timeshare-not up to RCI QualityNo heat even though they will tell you their phone app says system is on. Office manager unresponsive to confirm your reservation, give directions or help with heating issues and all of the residents were without heat for one week.
