    Dated facility

This is a very dated facility. The internet service is terrible. The rooms are spacious but dated. Appears clean. Had to wait on check in because no one was at the desk. Directions to the facility are not very clear.

    So close to so much

As Marriott Bonvoy Gold loyalty members, we had a free night e-certificate that was good for a Level 3 hotel, or 25,000 points. This is equivalent to a Residence Inn within the Marriott family of hotels. This review is based on a comparison to similar class hotels; not measured against Waldorf-Astoria. Around the greater Atlanta area it was difficult to find a place that fit that criteria, not to mention the ridiculous parking fees within Atlanta proper, for every single hotel. (Typically between $30-40 per night to self-park.) I expanded my search since we were in the area and wanted decent accommodations. This quaint inn definitely has a historical feel, and is a short walk across the street from the ticket/attraction offices for Stone Mountain Park. While you pay a one-time access charge of $20 for the park, the hotels on-site parking is complimentary and plentiful. Keep in mind this is a cluster of buildings configured around a courtyard where the pool is. Many have rocking chairs on their balcony. There are no elevators, but the buildings are only two stories, so there are plenty of ground level accessible rooms. The only drawback would be if you wanted to eat their breakfast buffet, it is upstairs via a winding staircase. Take my word for it when I say you arent missing anything if you dont eat there. I have no specific criticism; it was the identical buffet they serve for free at many Marriott chains, except for a $14 fee. The biscuits and gravy were more flavorful than the usual wallpaper paste offered by other Marriotts, but my opinion is there are better options nearby for the money. (Metro Diner is a six minute drive just outside the park.) This inn seems unjustly maligned in the reviews. The rooms were spacious, we could adequately heat our room, the rooms and all common areas were tidy and well-maintained, and the staff was friendly. I truly cant think of one negative thing to add to this review.

    Great Place To Stay

Wife and I had a great time staying at this inn at stone mountain. Located right across from everything we wanted to do. Facility is a lil dated but we still loved it and will definitely be staying there again! Beds were very comfortable. Room was very clean. Friendliest check in staff ever! Really want to give a shout out to John and Richard for taking such good care of us and answering all our questions and recommending things. What great assets to have! The lady at the breakfast buffet that waited on us was so polite and did a great job keeping everything in order for the diners. The gentleman that took us up on the tram was very informative and funny. Cant wait to go back again!

Great location, but average property at best. Wish I'd stayed down the road.

If you're interested in seeing Stone Mountain, the location is practically perfect. The hotel, however, has challenges that made our stay and experience average at best. PARTIAL CLOSURE FOR COVID. My wife and I were traveling in November of 2020, so we managed our plans very closely to minimize exposure to other people. As a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite member, I get extended checkout which comes in handy during circumstances like this. Since I can check out later (usually 3PM/4PM-ish) my wife and I typically head back to our room to take a shower and change clothes before hitting the road again after experiencing local activities. We had planned to do this in Stone Mountain Park since the park opened at 11 AM and it would give us ample time to check it out. Unfortunately, I wasn't notified until we actually arrived AT the hotel that the property was closed during the week and, since it was only open on weekends, was set to close at noon on Sunday. THE ISSUE HERE is that I had requested the extended checkout in advance and, had I been notified of this limitation in advance, I would have moved my reservation to the Atlanta Evergreen Marriott Conference Resort which was right down the road. After having spent the entire day on the road (we drove from Memphis, TN) we just didn't have the energy to deal with it when told that our checkout was now 11:30 AM. ACCESSIBLE ROOM. Prior to arrival, my wife had sprained her ankle while we were hiking earlier in our trip. While checking in, I asked if they had a first floor room and they offered us the wheelchair accessible room which (at the time) sounded perfect. It wasn't until later that the two lamps on the bedside end tables, which doubled as charging hubs, weren't plugged in. I moved the end tables and there weren't any outlets behind them. So, if you were disabled and staying in the room, you had to go to the front door to turn off the lights before going to bed and then find your way to you bed in the dark. This is not only inconvenient, but also dangerous IMO. I've left the feedback with Marriott, but my advice if you're planning a stay here? Spend the extra money/points and stay at the Atlanta Evergreen Marriott Conference Resort down the road instead.

    Highly Disappointed

PRO- The proximity to the park was perfect. The front desk staff were friendly. CON - The hotel was outdated and looked like it may have been on a list for demolition. No elevator, no restaurant, and the iron stairs outside to the 2nd floor were rusted and badly welded. Both of our rooms had a horrible smell. There were stains on the curtains, walls, lamp shades, and furniture. There was dust on the furniture. We had a large balcony but the rocking chairs had gotten wet and the paint was peeling off. They looked like they hadnt been cleaned or painted in years. The wallpaper was patched over spots in the bathroom. The bed linens had small holes. The beds were doubles. Not Queens. There was a pullout couch in the room but we were afraid to pull it out. Our plugs kept falling out of the wall sockets. Our hotel phones didnt work and they wanted to charge $12.95 for Wi-fi. OVERALL- For the price we paid for 2 rooms and the condition of the hotel, I would not stay there again.
