  Stone Hut, full of "Attractions", "Foods" and not just for "Accommodation".

  Hi people! While doing the usual run through the Flinders Ranges we decided to pop in and have some good old tucker at a place called Stone Hut. There isn't much left of the original Stone Hut buildings but the area has a lot of history. Some good, some bad, especially many family tragedies that the first settlers had. At Stone Hut is accommodation, a bakery, a bird aviary and a petting zoo. The bakery was neat, clean and tidy and full of various pastries and deserts with a selection of meals. The staff were extremely friendly and knew the area and some of its history fairly well. The food was tasty and filling and freshly made and the carrot cake was divine!! We visited the bird aviary and the petting zoo next to the bakery and even got to touch the variety of animals on display. As usual I took plenty of photos for the gallery so check them out! After my visit to Stone Hut I am pretty sure I will visit again and grab myself another vegetarian pasty.

  Overnight Stay for long weekend

  I stayed in Stone Hut Cottage for a night during my weekend trip to Mount Remarkable Conservation Park for hiking. The Cabin was clean and spacious with all the required facilities. Wine and breakfast was great.

  Great little place to stop

  This is a neat place to stop along the motorway. The kids loved the aviary and petting zoo. The animals looked quite happy and content. We did arrive before lunch and a majority of the pies were sold out. There was a big event on up the road. So sadly we could not have our first choice and the pies we did get were cold and not very nice... which is sad because I was really looking forward to them.

  Excellent.

  I went for a weekend away to hike alligator gorge and needed a place to stay as a single. I had such a lovely/relaxing stay at stone hut cottages. It was so peaceful and the owners were lovely. It also had some nice touches such as the bottle of local wine and bath robes. I will stay again and pass on the recommendation to family and friends.

  Galvanised iron comfort

  lovely little cottages built using the old style materials, but very comfy. Recommended the heritage walk around the town by the friendly owners and it was interesting to see a tiny cottage where 17 children survived. Breakfast was full sized and good (except the little sachet of vegemite was two years out of date). Half way between Laura and Wirrabra both of which were worth a visit.
