Amazing place and staff. Highly recommend! We recently stayed here for 5 days following the sale of our house. The staff (Cory and Olivia) were amazing and made our stay an absolute joy. The accommodations were excellent, the room was clean, the views great, and the proximity to the beach is a major plus. Also, Cory was an excellent host, a pleasure to chat with and highly attentive during the relaxing evening drinks and dining on the porch. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a relaxing and amazing vacation.

Renovations! We stayed here many years ago (as in 20), and were underwhelmed. Earlier this summer, when our home in Little Compton had some plumbing and electricity breakdowns, we called the Stone House to see if they were open and if they had any vacancy. Not only did they find us a room, but we were able to arrive early due to our circumstances. When we arrived, we were fed the breakfast that we'd missed, and when we were shown to our room, I was in SHOCK! Gone was the tiny room with the floral wallpaper-- were were in an enormous, light-filled, beautifully decorated suite (though this is not what they refer to as a suite-- I think this room, Warren, is a "standard room" -- but believe me, it was a suite by any other standard). Everything was so comfortable. We were told that complimentary "light fare" was included in an incredibly reasonable rate (similar to what we paid 20 years ago). This light fare consisted of several courses of dinner, lovely wine and cheese, homemade cookies (our daughter scored a few extra), and later, a s'mores kit to sit by the fire pit. Now that everything is up and working at our place in Rhode Island I keep looking for an excuse to go back. I can't recommend it enough.

Room not at all as expected for the $$$$$; Covid safety concernsWe appreciated the beautiful property and surrounding area, the peacefulness of sitting on the porch and lawn, and the local wine and light meals served. But we booked this "luxury resort" for an exorbitant amount because of all the 5-star reviews, and that was a huge costly mistake. If we had a room like the photos on all the websites show, it could have been a very nice place to stay. What we got instead was an old, sad-looking room with cheap furniture, dingy carpeting, and stained sheets. There was no actual bathroom but rather a shower right by the door and a sink next to it and a toilet closet next to that (and nowhere nearby to put your towel and clothes when you shower except the floor). There were old hangers on a bar across one dormer window and an old-looking iron and ironing board stored in another dormer window (why there?), bad lighting, and a room so poorly laid out that you can't sit up in bed without banging your head on the slanted ceiling, which my husband did and has a huge painful welt to show for it. The trashcan had crud stuck on it, the windowsills and floorboards had dead little bugs. Oddly, there were empty hooks with cards next to them, which must have been for artwork that was already sold (which just added to the uncared for feel of the room). This wouldn't have bothered us if the price was a lot lower. But to charge a whopping $500 A NIGHT (without tax)? That was the most we have EVER spent on a hotel -- and only did so because it was the only room available when we booked and because we decided to splurge after a long period of quarantining, thinking it would be the finest room we ever stayed in. Granted, this room was the one with the cupola, which has beautiful views and is very cool to climb up to, but even that--its interior and the staircase--is not as described and was not worth the extra money, to us at least. But judge the room for yourself--see our photos posted with this review. In contrast, the photos posted by the hotel and booking websites all feature modern-looking rooms with luxury bathrooms and nice sofas and practical layouts. I would have thought the most expensive room would have been a renovated one, especially since the staff said it was the nicest room of all. Our room at a Newport inn cost FAR less and was absolutely stunning and clean. Of more concern, if you value your safety and are a responsible and respectful person, reconsider staying here. We felt the hotel did not take proper Covid precautions. Unlike at the other hotel where we stayed (and every restaurant we went to), mask wearing is not required for the staff at Stone House as a measure to protect themselves and the guests--and the manager himself did not wear one (except for us after we said something); there are no posted signs for guests to wear a mask indoors, either, so some did not wear one. There is no plexiglass separation at the reception desk (especially needed if the staff are not wearing masks), no hand sanitizer (as seems to be in all other establishments), and no visible signs of regular disinfecting of commonly touched surfaces in common areas such as the toaster and the coffee machine in the dining rooms. Perhaps they get cleaned daily, but even that is not enough if 30-plus people are all touching them, since coronavirus can linger on surfaces for some time. Beach chairs are available, but they are not disinfected between uses as they should be. We don't know what the RI hotel regulations are regarding Covid, but all of this was quite disturbing since, though there is always some risk in traveling now, simple measures can be taken to control the virus, while such a casual attitude can cause it to surge. We were told that the rooms were cleaned for one hour using various disinfecting solutions but found it hard to believe that careful attention is paid to this since our room was visibly dirty in places. One other (relatively minor) thing to just point out -- that the beach is not "private" as hotels.com says and is far enough of a walk that carrying beach chairs and umbrella was not possible for us, so we did not spend more time there as we had planned.

Beautiful seaside haven! My husband and I have had such a terrific vacation at the Stone House for the past two summers so we decided to return again this year. Once again, our expectations were exceeded. We stayed in the spacious and quiet Sisson suite which has lovely views overlooking the ocean. We enjoyed the delicious breakfast, including homemade muffins, on the verandah with its water views. Little Compton has so many activities to offer--biking, swimming at one of several stunning beaches, tennis, farm stands, a vineyard, and some outstanding restaurants in nearby towns. An added benefit is that Newport is only a 40 minute drive. This was our first travel since the COVID outbreak and we were somewhat nervous. However, we felt very safe at the Stone House--guests and staff wore masks inside, all surfaces were cleaned regularly, and the Inn and the town offer a tranquil and spacious environment in which to social distance. Most of all, we appreciated the efforts of Corey, the General Manager, and his staff to make us feel welcome and comfortable.

fall getawayWe stayed 1 night with family for a nice quiet get away. We enjoyed the charming and cozy accommodations in our oversized sweet with a gas fireplace . The staff was courteous and friendly . The weather was perfect for a short walk to the beach and than hanging out in the Adirondack chairs on the impeccable grounds . Will definitely visit again and would recommend to family and friends !!
