great leisure hotel in a beautiful areaI'm now staying in this hotel for approx. 10 years from time to time. It is family driven and no big business hotel - but not small. The service and the facilities are outstanding and the area is perfect to spend some days at the seaside. It is a typical leisure area approx. 100km from Hamburg or Bremen. If you intend to relax and enjoy your life, it is a perfect hotel with good rooms, bathing facilities like swimming pool, sauna etc. The service (room, front desk, porter, restaurant etc.) is great and the kitchen is mentioned in every rerstaurant guide - which means nothing to me at all, but in this case I understand why. The pricing is high compared to other german hotels, but OK if the see what you get. (Compared to i.e. N.Y. it is cheap anyway...)

Nostalgic hotel in top locationThe location and views of Badhotel Sternhgen are really fantastic. Facilities are good, rooms are immaculate, service is very friendly. But the interior of the hotel is outdated and would badly need some investment. I am sure Sternhagen has been top-class in the past but nowadays I would not rate it as 5S* hotel, 4S* would be fairer. And with the according pricing.

Oldschool, but definitly 5* and with FlairWe stayed here during october in a seaview suite for one night. The Hotel is right at the sea, there is only the dike in front and behind it the norther sea ( okayonce in a while it is there, while most of the time it is gone). Lots of parking lots are exclusively in front of the entrance with personal service to the right parking spot. Thefore the arrival was as expected with luggage service and personal welcome at the reception. The room was well prepared and the luggage arrived shortly after we entered the suite. The Hotel is in good shape but you can see that is has been built quite some time ago. Nevertheless the quality of the interior, bathroom, and bed is still adequate, the service ( which separates the 4 from the 5* houses ) was outstanding. Cant rate the Spa as my wife only booked a massage, which she rated as 9 out of 10. During breakfast you have a nice view to the sea, the buffet offers anything you want, the remaining items cooked to order ( e.g. pancakes, omelettes, etc ) are taking longer during rush hour, but still within an acceptable timeframe ( did not wait longer than 10min). As we arrived with our young boy ( 4month ) we had Dinner at the suite, 3 courses, nice decoration, a really pleasant service ( they called before, in order to not wake up the baby with the door bell ) and decent food for a reasonable price. I can understand why people rate the hotel lower than 5 *Superior, as the house appears to be refurbished during the nineties, but again: all nice and high quality, maybe a little bit outdated in stylebut in any case: this hotel has flair! People should understand that 5* are not related to up to date interior, but large rooms with high comfort, outstanding service and decent food ( there is a Michelin star restaurant also available within the hotel ). So go there if you dont expect a 2016 refurbished hotel, but want good service, decent food and only 40m walk to the sea. Dont go there if you are not willing to pay for the service and want to have a modern style interior.

Fantastic hotel, a real gemWe've never been at the Wadden sea before but highly recommend you to put in on your bucket list. Watching the ebb and flow means something different here. You can walk out of the hotel to the dune, and the hotel gives you a full access to the beach (otherwise you have to pay each time). The spa and the wellness area is really cozy, in the pools you can enjoy water massages. The breakfast was excellent, we had a stunning room (partial seaview) , (old, but fully renovated) and clean. Beds are big, and really comfortable. Everybody is nice and friendly, and do what they can to make you feel like home. There was some kind of a fest, called Duhner Künstler-Promenadenfest, where we could have try local foods and beverages. Although there was live music, we couldn't hear any noise in the room. We took the hop on-hop off, which stops right front of the hotel and we traveled around the area of Cuxhaven and Duhnen.

Unexpected delight - Elegant spa hotel with invaluable concierge and 3 gourmet restaurantsMy family (2 adults, 2 teens) stayed here last summer for only one day. What a delight! Our suites overlooking the Wadden Sea were spacious and elegant, consisting of a bedroom area, large bath, hall, generous closets, and sitting area, complete with binoculars to better view the watts, ships, and Neuwerk Island. The Watts (mudflats) are amazing! They transform dramatically when the tide goes in and out. The concierge went above and beyond by arranging a Watt Wagon ride for us before we even arrived! They then allowed us to have a late dinner in their Schaarhörn restaurant as the sun set. (They also have another 2-star Michelin restaurant, the Sterneck, and a cute, rustic restaurant called the Ekendöns.) The lobby and common areas are filled with beautiful paintings, well worth a stroll around. Had I known how lovely this hotel was I would have arranged to stay longer. We will definitely be back and will stay long enough to enjoy all their amenities.
