Very good value rooms, excellent locationWe turned up without a reservation planning to stay for one night. As soon as we went to our very reasonably priced room with a massive balcony at the back of the building (extremely private) we went straight back down to the reception to ask to stay for another night. Great place, amazing location and a short three minute stroll to the beach.

Great host and location but remember you are in Italy .......Let me start by saying this was a week designed to chill out on the beach so the hotel was just to be used as a base. Having said that 644 euros for a base is the most we have ever paid in a long time. The room was very basic but clean and cleaned daily. bathroom was tiny I am 6ft 2 and could not turn in the shower my wife is 5ft 4 and couldn't either!! to sit on the toilet was an art in its self!! this was room 7 had no view only over the back area. Add on 20 euros per day sunbed hire on the beach then remember you are in Italy, expensive too say the least but the owner was really nice as was the location.

Dated hotel but great locationStayed here on a very busy weekend, at short notice with no other hotels available without exhorbitant price tags. Dated hotel but you get what you pay for. Manager Davide? was very helpful. Great location. 50 metres to main promenade, beach, restaurants, shopping. It was also a great base for locations such as Cinque Terra, Pisa and a short drive into the mountains.

Good location off seasonThe residence is located in Mazzanta We stayed almost 2 weeks during off season period, which is a great time to stay there with small children: You have the pool almost to yourself, it's very very quiet. When walking down the roads it seems like the village is completely uninhabited - no cars parked anywhere and all blinds are closed. If you are travelling with a bunch of friends and want to party, off season is the wrong time to be here. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Advice: Don't spontaneously arrive after 11PM - no one will be at reception. We just made it in time, as the receptionist was about to leave, leaving a note for a number to call and the message, that the staff will be back in the morning... There's free WIFI available, it worked well in our appartement (no need to stay in the lounge to use WIFI). The appartement was clean, sheets and towels were automatically changed once a week. The walls are quite thin though, as we could hear when the above-neighbours moved chairs on their ground - but it wasn't annoyingly loud. We had a kitchen with a fride and ice-box and a gas stove. In the evenings we didn't sit much on our balcony due to mosquitos. Don't forget to take mosquito protection with you! Parking is free and possible on private property right next to the residence. The pool was clean, there are lots of sun lounger available and there is even a small indoor pool with warmer water (which had for my taste too much chlorine or cleaning soap in it - as my legs started buring when I went into the water for a few seconds). There are a few restaurants walking distance, and we found their opening days were random during end of September, beginning of October (maybe every second day it was closed). Other than a few restaurants, there is a bike rental, but really, there is nothing else to do nearby. You even have to drive to the supermarket (as I'm not counting the little random store that is nearby to small assortment). I can't recommend the walking distance-beach that you get to when walking through the pine tree forest. The sand is not particularly clean. However, if you drive towards Vada for 2 minutes by car, you will find clear ocean and clean sand. I didn't invest much time in planning the trip to Tuscany and the stay in the residence. On holiday-check the reviews for the residence were all very positive, the pictures were nice, the location and the climate were great - therefore I booked. After I booked (and found out the exact name of the residence), I looked up the reviews on tripadvisor and I became less euphoric and a bit worried that this might turn out as a bad choice. It wasn't! In my view, the residence was better than the picture I got from reading most of previous posts (might be due to the fact that we travelled off season). Overall, we enjoyed our stay :-)
