Beautiful setting! Wedding with Family of 5 (3 young children)We booked Stella Alpina for 3 nights because we had a family wedding at Malcesine castle. We had 3 young children aged 22 months, 6years and 9 years at the time. Our first impression was the hotel was in the most beautiful setting with views to die for. The hotel was basic, but clean and the surroundings and views made up for it. The bathroom and rooms were again basic and a little dated but clean with fresh bedding and towel and did the job. The windows had shutters on to keep out the light and road noise so that was a bonus!! We had a double room which linked together with us in one and the girls in the other with a small balcony to the front with views. The reason we picked this hotel is because it had a swimming pool and a little park for our girls and this is rare to have a pool in Malcesine as theres a lot of mountains. Wed have to say as beautiful as the area is, its not really for young families, more for couples and weddings of course. Hills, steps and cobbles everywhere so not ideal with a pram. We probably wouldnt visit Malcesine again due to the fact it wasnt ideal for families, 3 days was enough for us, but the hotel was great for what we paid and the time we needed it to attend the wedding. The staff were friendly and polite, also got a nice continental breakfast included which was a bonus with 5 to feed in the morning (saved us the walk with a pushchair). Also compared to a lot of other hotels in the area this was a very competitive price and like I say included a pool and breakfast. We also went up in the cable car to Monte Baldo which was a nice experience!

Amazing family run hotel in a beautiful settingMe and my family have returned 5 times to the Stella Alpina hotel ,we love the owner and his family and staff are always very attentive so I do not understand the other reviewers response , it may be set back from the roadside but you wouldn't think so when you are in its beautiful garden setting with a lovely clean pool area with lots of sun beds to choose from , hammocks in the trees for a little shade and swings for young children and a play house too , my son particularly likes the table tennis which is free of charge as are the bikes for guests use , the family are such lovely people and will go out off there way to assist you .the rooms are exceptionally clean and yes they may not have air con but that's never been a problem and they have provided fans when we have asked ( it never says on there hotel description that it has air con and is up to you to ask I would think ) the hotel rooms are basic but they are nicely decorated and extremely clean , they also provide a continental breakfast which is all you need as there are lots of lovely restaurants to visit at lunch time and on a evening to satisfy everyone's tastes in the picturesque town . Which is a nice walk aprox 15 mins along the lake ,We shall be returning to this lovely hotel again this year !
