Nice hotel but too highly rankedWe chose this hotel because it was ranked #1 in Moena in Tripadvisor and the price was good, so we booked a triple room (3 male friends) for a 6-night stay during our ski holidays. It is a nice small hotel in a quiet place just 2' walk from the city center. The first impression was a bit of a disappointment because the room was too small for 3 adults and the third bed was something like a couch transformed to bed. The hotels public areas were also small, so was the spa, where the ambience was mediocre. Breakfast was good with a large enough variety of selections. The service was great and the staff was very friendly and warm. Almost every night there was a different event organized by the hotel owner (local cheese and wine degustation, tombola, music night, local dish menu) who managed to create a friendly and lively atmosphere and transmit it to everyone. In conclusion it was a pleasant stay, the value/ price ratio was very good, but the hotel is far from being excellent.

Best winter vacation ever! After spending one week in this wonderfull hotel we are planning on coming back again next year. We came as a family here to spend a relaxing week in Dolomites whilst going skiing every day. The hotel is very close to many nice places where you can ski (directly infront of the hotel is a bus stop that brings you to the slopes) or go tracking in winter. Rooms are spacious and very clean. Hotel personell is very nice and helpful. You feel like being at home because of the warm hearted owner, the staff, and the way the hotel runs. The best part of staying in this hotel is the dinner with typical italian cuisine (everything home made), you wont feel hungry all week long!! I highly recomment staying in this hotel for families as for couples looking for a nice and comfortable place to stay in.

A wonderful winter holidayWe have just returned after a wonderful week at the Stella Alpina. We can totally recommend this hotel. The rooms were very comfortable and immaculately clean. We have travelled extensively and have never come across better standards of service by all the staff. They were so welcoming, friendly and helpful showing great attention to every detail. The meals also surpassed expectation with both good choice and quality. We hope that we will be fortunate enough to visit again. One family there were on their 35th year of visits. We can see why.

Your home in Paradise! My girl friend and I just got back from a WONDERFUL stay at the Hotel Stella Alpina in Moena, the largest and very charming town in the Val di Fassa (about 3 1/2 hours north of Venice.) Remarkably few Americans know about this spectacular ski and hiking locale, which is serviced by a system of lifts that seems to have no end. The Dolomite mountains are nothing short of breath-taking, and the cost of lift tickets, rental equipment, and lodging are about half of what they might cost in the U.S. And you are in Italy- where it is impossible to have a bad meal, and where everyone we met was genuinely gracious and helpful. The Stella Alpina is a superb value, run by Carla and her brother Mauro, who couldn't do enough to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The hotel sits just above the center of town, which is accessible by a short stairway, and so is both very central and quiet. The hotel has recently been renovated and sparkles. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated, each with a balcony and lovely view. We arrived by Shuttle bus and without cell phone, but the hotel arranged for the stationmaster to call them on our arrival, and Mauro promptly picked us up in his van. He also drove us to our ski rental location and both delivered and returned our equipment at the end of our stay. The Val di Fassa has regular Ski Bus service, but on two days when we got a late start, Mauro insisted on driving us to the slopes. The Ski bus to two of the loveliest ski areas stops just steps away from the hotel. Carla is the delightful Hotel Impresario, anticipating our every need, introducing guests to each other, and hosting nightly tastings of cheese or salami at cocktail hour, before dinner. The food was plentiful and delicious. Breakfast included a beautiful buffet of pastries, cereal, yogurt, fruit, meats and cheese, and eggs any style. Dinner is ordered the night before, when you are given a choice of three first courses, three main courses, and three desserts, including vegetarian and regional specialties. Dinner also includes a beautiful buffet spread of appetizers. The wait-staff are super-friendly and efficient, and clearly enjoy working at the hotel. Dinner was always lively and on Friday night, included a wonderful singer from Rome. The hotel attracts a nice mix of couples, families, and small groups. You are made to feel at home in the Stella Alpina, and even if I had to return alone, I know I would be welcomed back like family.

Better than ever!We stayed here two years ago and thought we struck gold, but just returned from another week of skiing and found the Stella Alpina better than ever. The directress Carla and her brother Mauro greeted us like old friends, and as before, went out of their way to insure we had everything we needed. The half-board plan can't be beat. Last time we thought the food was exceptional and generous, but agreed this time that it was even better. The hotel attracts a nice mixed group of Europeans, some with family. Carla is the Impresaria who introduces guests to each other and keeps them entertained with Welcome drinks, local cheese and salami tastings, and Friday night entertainment by a wonderful singer, Andrea. The restaurant staff, Cristina and Valentina, are exceptionally efficient and friendly, as are the cleaning staff. The entire hotel is spotless... even the ski-room! I hope to make the Stella Alpina my home-away-from-home for years to come. PS English is not their best language, but non-Italian speakers can manage.
