Mixed...definitely mixed...Typically when I travel with my wife we try to stay at more upscale properties, because we consider that part of the vacation experience. When traveling by myself, or when traveling unexpectedly, I looking for more value oriented places to stay. Both were the case in this instance, because I was traveling to the bereavement ceremony for a dear friend he died very suddenly without notice. I picked the Staybridge Suites because it is newer (and I LOVE new properties) and the price was right. On the positive side, I will say that when I opened the door to my room I was pleasantly surprised. It was a King Suite, and it was quite nice definitely meeting expectations and perhaps exceeding them a bit. Overall the property is pretty nice, being relatively new. I will also say that everyone I dealt with at the property was quite nice, in a friendly southern sort of way. Everyone just seemed pretty friendly, which was good considering the circumstances I was traveling under. That said, I was really frustrated with a couple of occurrences, the sort of thing reminds me of why I pay extra to stay at 4 and 5 star properties when planning my travel. Saturday morning, when going through my routine, I discovered something I hadnt noticed when arriving late the night before the toilet was broken. When I was departing for the morning on a Saturday, I called down to the front desk and asked that it be looked after while I was gone, as well as if my room could be clean by the chamber maid. I was told this would not be a problem. I returned 4 hours later, opened the door, and discovered my room had not been touched. I then went straight into bathroom, having strong need to use the facilities, which was followed by learning the toilet had not been fixed. Now Ive got a dirty room and a full toilet bowl that wont flush. Not exactly upscale hoteling. I called to the front desk who offered apologizes (great), but what I really needed was my toilet fixed. The gentleman who came after some time was nice enough, and the fix was perfect (in fact, how did it get to be in that condition in the first place? The maids didnt report to engineering that the handle was failing apart??), but still, you know? Why did it take to too calls and my being inconvenienced? Later when I went out for early dinner I again asked about getting the room cleaned, and it was fine when I returned. In summary, nice property, nice people. Perhaps my experience was an exception. Would stay again if I had need to and the price was again right, but I could have lived without the aggravation.

Great Stay!!We went for a weekend away from kids. This room is like a mini apartment! It was great! They put us at the end of the hall and it was the only room on that side of the hallway. Total privacy and peace and quiet! We needed that! The food was really good. The room was very nice. The couch was a little hard. We are planning our next weekend getaway!

Good locationWe visited with Staybridge because of its location to family and friends. We needed a central location where we could go all directions. This hotel is right off of the 820 freeway. It is not directly off the access, but there is a short street off of the access and can be easily seen. The hotel is in good shape and undergone a remodel to refresh the rooms and lobby. The staff does a good job and tries to answer all your questions. The breakfast area is kept clean and refreshed. It has a nice variety and for those that prefer a soft drink early instead of coffee or other hot drink, they have the soft drink machine working. A nice gesture that you don't see in most hotels. Definitely a place to stay if you don't want to go into the city. It is just north of I-30 so you can get into Ft Worth quickly. Definitely a place we will keep on our list.

Great hotelWe booked several rooms here for my sons wedding. We were all pleased with our rooms. Beds were comfortable. Plenty of room to roam around. The location was perfect location to the wedding venue at Stoney Ridge. The room was clean. Staff friendly. I will be glad when we can have a regular breakfast again at hotels. Not their fault on that. I would definitely stay here again. I have no complaints, everything was very clean and comfortable.

Average is stretchWe're finding as we travel (and unfortunately in these COVID days, travel we must) that the mid-range IHG (Holiday Inn chain) and Hilton properties seem to be following into two broad categories. Pretty good, thanks to cheery, helpful (meaning, goes a little above the expected to meet guests' needs), careful attention to coronavirus precautions, and a real effort to provide as many of the comforts of home as possible, given the drop-off in business and, in many cases, what appears to be short-staffing. And then the second category: serviceable at best. This place falls into the latter. Whereas many, many properties make an effort to at least provide a hot breakfast of sorts carefully dispensed by staff, not laid out in buffet style because of coronavirus concerns, this place (and one or two others where we stayed) offered a "grab bag" with the following nourishing offerings (I jest there): a bottle of water, a granola bar, and a muffin. In other words a hefty dose of sugar with water to wash it down. Oh, and get this: no coffee not only none available any time on a help-yourself basis, but NO COFFEE AT ALL. I guess cutting back on the kitchen attendant position meant no one else could make coffee as well. So bring a thermos of java if you stay here. But you are Spire members, you might say, and Diamond members in the Hilton chain. That's not some hoity-toity entitlement; it's an earned level based on dozens and dozens of nights of patronage. One staffer at the current hotel said, "You're a Spire member? We'd go GET you a cup of coffee if you asked for it.) Again, we don't consider getting a cup-a-Joe a snooty privilege but a hotel basic. And the hotel I'm reviewing even kept count of the number of breakfast "bags" AND bathroom item refills that we required. Believe me, we weren't hoarding granola and muffins. Have things come to this? Otherwise the place was . . . well, Staybridge-average, with a competent but unmemorable staff, the commonplace-these-days flourescent-light look in rooms and out, the usual Staybridge-style dormat-quality linens, and (be aware of this if you need a handicapped space) very few such spaces available. The neighborhood is not exactly restaurant row, and it's a haul to downtown. Nothing to write home about, in other words, so I'm writing you instead.
