  Terrible smell

  I should have taken into account the reviews about the awful smell in some of the rooms. Ours was one that had a terrible smell and the room was dirty. We walked in and the floor was sticky and had food crumbs all over. The room smelled so bad that I vomited. The staff told us upon letting them know how dirty our room was and how bad it smelled that we could talk to a manager the next morning. She cleaned our room for us and put an ozone machine in the room, which helped a little. Our 4 night stay was terrible due to the smell. Nobody in our family wanted to go back to the hotel at night because of how bad it smelled. I would definitely not recommend to stay at this hotel! There are PLENTY of other options in the area.

  Non-covid 19 compliant, horrible service, daylight robbery

  1) Check in experience was bad. A trainee with absolutely no experience checked us in - she had no support from a member of the staff and was unsure about everything. Took almost 30 minutes to check us in. She couldn't find my name even though it was on the greeting board. Received me with a very bad attitude. She had to call on her peer several times during the process. She did not communicate to us the revised Covid procedures e.g. no service staff, lack of sufficient clean towels or clean sheets etc. I called to ask for more but they said they didn't have it towels or clean sheets etc. I called to ask for more but they said they didn't have it 2) No policing of guests at the lobby for not wearing masks. Also guests standing in line for coffee during breakfast were not advised to practice social distancing. Staff did not bother to tell violators who were not wearing masks. 3) In the evening, extra towels were just left on the front desk without any form of protection from viruses. Someone could have coughed on it - no one at the front desk monitoring. 4) Charged us for a night we did not stay at their hotel. When we checked in, we told the front desk that we were staying for 2 nights only. She confirmed that was the case at check in but unfortunately we were charged a 3rd night. Contacted management to rectify it but she refused to do so. Daylight robbery. Don't ever stay at this hotel. A huge public safety risk and horrible service awaits you.

  Outstanding Hotel

  We stayed here for four nights and used this as our central location to see everything. This was conveniently located for Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Devils Tower, Custer State Park, Sturgis, Deadwood, and the Badlands on the way home... we felt very comfortable with the current COVID situation.

  BE AWARE all 3rd party bookers

  Horrible, we booked a couple of nights at this hotel through Expedia with a clear free cancellation policy of 48h before arrival. We actually cancelled 4 weeks before the trip was supposed to happen, since we had to change plans due to covid. We went ahead and cancelled, we got a confirmation email that no money is owed and now weeks later, we checked our statements and there it is, a 1 night fee charged as a penalty for not showing up! I couldn't believe it! I'm glad we booked through a customer service oriented company, since the Expedia rep called the hotel for us and was trying to figure this out. He looked through the hotels policy with Expedia and confirmed that everything was done properly/timely on our side. The front desk claimed the hotel always charges penalties for cancelled 3rd party bookings no matter what? Is that now the new way of making money for hotels? Screwing people over and hoping they don't realize the charge on the card, how many times did they do that to people? The expedia rep said he's never had that issue with an IHG branded hotel before and the front desk claimed this policy is written clearly on the website. I did check and wasn't able to find anything at all, same for the expedia rep. I will never book with those guys or this chain again! BE AWARE and check your statement if you booked through a 3rd party site!!!

  Not with the extra money during COVID

  One of the reasons we stay at Staybridge even though they are more expensive than other similar hotels is the extra value in the free hot breakfasts each day and the social hour on certain days. The situation during COVID isnt worth it right now. You currently need to fill out a form and staff gets the food for you. Sounds good in principle but there was only one person filling orders so it was slow and items were gone 30 minutes into breakfast. Throughout the day people were sitting in the common area not wearing masks while not eating even though the hotel policy is masks in all common areas. Even some of the front desk staff were not wearing masks. Try to avoid rooms by the elevator because the door isnt too soundproof
