  Clean and secure

  I visited Canberra for a working holiday and stayed at the Statesman hotel. The room I had was clean and comfortable. Staff clean the rooms daily and are super friendly. Towels were changed daily. Although the room I had didnt have a kitchen, they provided a microwave and dish washing essentials when requested. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

  Never again

  The accommodation was clean and tidy beds were comfortable however it was extremely noisey. On the second night there was a group who returned to their room at 11 pm drunk and became very loud with screaming continuing until 1.40 am.There was no response from management to the situation. I was very uncomfortable as I was on my own and not keen to confront a group of drunken young men. I would never stay again.

  Convenient place to stay

  The Statesman was chosen because of its convenient location, and we were mostly very pleased with this choice. We liked the secure parking, walking distance to Curtin shops, and just a short drive to where we needed to be each day. The room was clean, the bed clean and comfortable, the toiletries very nice. We had a good selection of teas and coffees, with a couple of nice shortbread biscuits. The milk was a small bottle of FRESH milk!! On the down side, however, there was nowhere to hang the hand-towel in the bathroom and when someone in either the adjoining room or the one above (not sure which) ran their shower early one morning, the noise was most alarming.

  Location great, served the purpose

  Cons: the worst smelling hotel/rooms by far. Smelt of insect spray and bleach; could not breathe for the 2 days were there. The toilets were not cleaned by housekeeping. we seriously had to hold our breath every time we walked in; if i were to guess it was insect spray + petrol + vinegar nice cocktail. Gross. Pros: I am from Canberra, great location, easy parking, nice pub, amenities, tea, coffee, biscuits, TV and decent beds. Would I stay again? Not in a hurry, no!

  Our daughter was in Canberra Hospital and we needed accomodation, coming from 400 klm away

  The staff could not have been more helpfull as my wife & I were coming and going from day to day for 3 weeks and were not aware of when we would need accomodation from day to day, the same applying to our son in law and grankids. The location was perfect for the hospital and shops and Canberra town centre. The price was very reasonable for Canberra. The rooms were well set up and spotless. We have rellies in Canberra and will definitely be using this facility again. Thanks once again to the marvellous staff for all their help.
