  What is a standpipe?!

  This motel is just a little north of the city, set back from two highways. It is made up of an old original house, now used for reception and meals, and separated sets of adjoining units. We have a deluxe unit which is very nice, although in need of a make-over. There is no cover for the car which is parked at the door. The unit is quite large with a comfortable king sized bed, dining table and several chairs. I miss not having a clock! In the small kitchenette there is a kettle, toaster and microwave, along with crockery and cutlery, but no ordinary glasses. The lay out here is very smart with the whole kitchen wall area screened behind a sliding door. The ensuite is very nice too, but dated and not spacious, with vanity, shower and toilet. The basin doesnt hold water. The shower has instant hot water and an excellent flow. There is a good supply of complimentary toiletries including toothbrushes and blade razors. The room lighting is good, and the room is serviced daily. We are very happy here. There is a standpipe in the grounds, for those who need to know!

  Food very well executed

  We had the opportunity of returning to Pt Augusta again for work purposes, unfortunately my first choice was sold out. I have visited the stand pipe many years ago and gave it a poor review. This time around Im glad I had the opportunity to visit again to enable me to give this place a second chance. On checking I was unable to hear exactly what the receptionist behind the desk was saying as there was another client by my side also checking in. The check in lady was very bad mannered and rude and slammed the paperwork with the pen infront of my colleague and I on the counter, not the most welcoming of persons, her attitude is enough to put you off and walk out. Please dont as all the other staff are nothing but attentive and welcoming and cannot do enough for you. I did bring this to the attention of the checkout team when I left. The menu at the restaurant has a extensive variety of meals to choose from to suit all, I was torn on what to choose as they all sounded amazing. The dishes that passed our table looked delightful. I found the waiter was very helpful and went through the menu, he appeared to be happy to give a description of the dishes. The food was executed well and extremely full filling. Definitely big tick from us and I will be keen to return to eat there again with my family. The hotel room was spacious and had everything you required for the night, microwave, kettle etc and the bed I found was comfortable. The bathrooms does need a facelift and very dated they appeared clean until I was in the shower and found two empty bottles of shampoo on top of the shower screen. Id say for an overnight stopover it would be perfectly adequate, the price range for a deluxe at the time of our visit was $158.00 pn.

  Great stay yet again

  Great service, polite and friendly staff and a good restaurant to boot. Cant fault it. And bonus being dog friendly so there are some rooms where pets are allowed. A very happy puppy not having to spend another night in the car.

  Top Spot

  This is a lovely motel - perfect location. Lovely friendly staff and rooms are clean and inviting. Loved our king bed and all the amenities. Great stay and would highly recommend. We went for a walk on golf course and watched the rabbits and parrots. Absolutely beautiful.

  My wife and I stayed at this accomodation recently. We used it as our base to explore Port Augusta and it's surrounds. We are glad we selected this hotel - it's the best facility in the township. The rooms are large, well equipped and well maintained. The restaurant serves good quality western and indian food for dinner and lovely choices for breakfast. The pool is great and the location scenic and private. The bar and restaurant building has a heritage flare and the cellar room is worth checking out. The service at reception and restaurant is great. I had 2 rounds of golf that is next door. The course has been well maintained with interesting challenges is most holes. Coin operated laundry service is available as well as BBQ area. When we drove past a number of other motels, they looked run down and non-inviting. There aren't any decent place to eat in Port Augusta except for fast food chains and take aways. We liked the ambience of Standpipe and pricing was very reasonable for both accommodation and meals.
