  Lovely with a good breakfast

  We ended up very spontaneously in the Stadthotel, as our plans radically changed and thankfully they had a cancelation, so we could spend the night there. The hotel is dog friendly, which was crucial for us, but I must say, that one would never think it's dog friendly, as everything so clean and spotless. And not like in some other places, where you can smell the animals (said the dog owner, lol). The bed was comfy and the bathroom was clean, the beach was 1 minute away and there are plenty of restaurants in the area. The breakfast was really good (served until 11!) with plenty of options (also for vegetarians). Staff was friendly. We had a nice time and would definitely be back if ever in the area.

  Perfect location

  This was the 4th time, we stayed in this hotel. We stayed in a large room overlooking the water. 40" TV in both sleeping- and sitting- room. Breakfast is excellent. The hotel is located a short walk from the city center, where you will find quite a few good restaurants.

  Nice view from suite at sea side

  Not cheap but without breakfast fair enough. In summer it anyway is nicer to walk along seaside to any outdoor cafe or bakery. I recommend Cafe Adele. Suite wasnt bad but double bed was in niche behind closet. A bit strange location!

  Very good hotel in near position of city centre

  This is a really fresh hotel with close walking distance to restaurants and the local harbor - it takes about 7-10 minutes to walk. There is a nice beach just outside the hotel with cafes and bars (summertime). The hotel has a parking garage (under). The breakfast is very nice with almost everything you want. We like this hotel very much and have been there 2 times and we want to come back next year. In summertime, consider to book your room long time before, because it is a popular quality hotel with low prices

  Hygienic concept done wrong

  The room and the location were good. If you want to enjoy an breakfast with partly senseless hygienic rules, this is also your place. Youll have to book a breakfast time and get a coin. This coin is collected at the breakfast room entrance from the guests. The waitress, having collected and touched the coins, touches then the gloves and gives them to the guests (overly big plastic gloves and only for each guest). Then youll be allowed to go to the buffet. When my hands were full with one plate and a glass, I went to the table to deposit it. However, the waitress did not allow me to go back as i crossed the end-of-buffet buttom line. So I shouted my desires to my partner who was still at the buffet until they allowed me to go out of the breakfast room and start again from the beginning. Meanwhile the waitress walked freely between kitchen, breakfast room and the buffet and two other guest went to the buffet by crossing the line. I felt a bit fooled and angry. Anyways, we observed that other guests (almost all of them) folded the gloves and put them in their pocket or placed them onto the breakfast table to reuse them during a second round of helpings at the buffet. We also observed the waitress to touch her own face mask with her gloved hand and then she touched with the very same hand the food! (by the way, nor staff or guests care about the fact that gloves are not impermeable and one has to disinfect hands before taking on the gloves and immediately after removing them). Both, the Stadthotel Eckernförde and the Seelust Hotel should thoroughly overthink their concepts. It would make more sense to introduce hygienic measures which can be followed by staff and guests. Please mind that it is way easier, not more risky and not half as annoying to go to one of the good bakeries in the city.
