Family run, great spa, hearty foodVery helpful and charming staff who arranged ski lessons, kit hire and lots of helpful advice. Hearty food with lots of choice. Chic spa with several saunas, a heated outdoor pool and steam room; plus a relaxation room. It was lovely to swim at night as the snowflakes fell then curl up in the relaxation room reading a book. The bus stop to the slopes is just across the road. You can hire your kit directly from the hotel. The town is a five minute walk and has some nice bars and the lake is stunning.

A hotel of perfectionThis is one of the most best family run hotels we have stayed in. We are a family of six and we all agreed it was perfect for us all in ever way. Its located about five minute walk from the centre of Zell am see. The hotel offers a really warm welcome and nothing is too much trouble. You really dont want for anything. Even before arriving they organised the airport transfer, ski hire, ski lessons and ski passes. The rooms are fabulous, plenty of space, hooks for ski wear to hang. Fluffy towels and robes, great showers and the housekeeping do a sterling job of keeping everywhere so clean each day. The whole team are brilliant, George was super company and our children looked forward to seeing him each day for a chat. But all the staff are brilliant. The food is amazing and wine, thank goodness we skied everyday to burn some calories off! Five minute walk from the hotel to the city express gondola. Which took you up the glorious mountains. But also ski in hotel if enough snow. Ski boot lockers in the basement of the hotel. The new spa is gorgeous for both families and couples. Lovely pool inside and mainly out, which was truly magical when the snow fell. This hotel is a leader is hospitality, Christine and Klaus have created a place which cannot be faulted and we will be back! Thank you so much for making our holiday truly special.

Cool hotelHave just returned after 10 days at Hotel Stadt Wien. We enjoyed our stay, however events at checkout somewhat soured our impressions of the hotel and we will not be returning. The hotel does not accept credit cards. I settled our bill totalling 1500.00 euros IN CASH! and they quibbled over a 44cent phone call that we did not make. We were married at this hotel and paid a lot of money out in total for our party of 13, yet at checkout we were treated very badly. I cant believe for the sake of what amounts to 30 pence they argued and accused us of lying. Rooms were not like any of those shown in pictures on their web site. Ours was sparsely furnished but large it should have been a superior room.It was not of superior standard. The methods of paying bar bills is fraught with danger. At breakfast each morning you are expected to sign for the previous days drinks. On several occasions our bill was wrong with things like 4 cocktails at 30 euros appearing on one room. This was something obvious how many other drinks did we miss? Comments in the guest book on the whole good although a number spoke about the standard of the rooms and about the honesty of the owners!! When we made a comment about our checkout experince the owner advised my husband she would remove the page!! thats how honest they are.

A beautiful hotel that caters for every need!We visited Hotel Stadt Wien in August 2020, as a family of 4 with 2 boys (6 and 2), and we all had the most fantastic time in Zell am See. Christine and Klaus, and Viktoria were incredibly helpful (and welcoming) even from before our arrival. We were made to feel very welcome at arrival and timed it well for the afternoon tea and cake! The hotel itself is very clean, with some nice communal spaces and a lovely outdoor swimming area with plenty of other activities to keep the children entertained (slide, swings, rabbits/donkeys/goats to stroke, football goals, table tennis, sandpit etc... Our room was a split level apartment with rooms upstairs, good sizes and comfortable. The seating area was nice too and looked out over the lovely garden/swimming pool, with a nice balcony to relax on. The dining area was very nice, although at the start our table was in a room at the back which felt like it lacked atmosphere (was quite quiet, could do with some music/speakers in there), but we moved table after a few days into the main area which was much better. The food was lovely, lots of options and some very tasty evening meal choices. The staff all around the hotel were very friendly and also very understanding around the children which was nice (thanks!). Bike hire was available and easy to arrange, the same for child carrier backpacks. There was a sauna and various relaxation areas which we didn't use much but looked very good. During the time we went, it was well organised with respect to mask requirements at buffet and ensuring hand sanitiser in various places around the hotel. Finally, the location of the hotel is great, a short (but steep of course) walk from the town centre of Zell am See, which is beautiful and has plenty to do including visiting a lovely lakeside lido. We had a fantastic stay in the Austrian mountains at Hotel Stadt Wien and very much look forward to our return next year! Best wishes to Christine, Klaus and team
