Perfect stay in BaliWhat to say, our stay at Sri Abi Ratu Villa was beyond perfect. Imagine to feel at your own home but surrounded by luxury. Anton and his staff were great. They really made us feel at home. The room with the pool and the bathroom are incredible and everything is extremely clean. The surroundings are magic, and the place is in a very unique spot. If you are going to stay here don't miss a chance to ask about Riana and his tours, he will make the best out of your vacation. We are proud to say we have found new friends in Bali thanks to this place.

The Heart of the Village OasisI chose this property because after about 26 hours of travel I wanted a luxurious space where we could rejuvenate. I originally wanted to stay in the central Ubud but I fell I love with this property and the value point. It did not disappoint. I booked the One-bed Private Pool Villa for a three-night upland (Ubud) base. Booking I booked through American Express Travel without issue. Prior to booking corresponded with the property numerous times to ensure that understandings and expectations aligned. Arriving-We opted for hotel transport which is an additional fee paid directly to the driver. (The fee was affordable and it connected us to a wonderful driver/person who we ended up commissioning for our entire stay). The Property This a small resort consisting of 4 private villas. It is located in a small village outside of Ubud. It is a great option if you want seclusion and dont mind hiring a taxi or already have a driver scheduled for your outings. The first day we caught a Taxi into central Ubud. The next days we were on daily tours with our tour operator. You will not find typical resort style amenities here like communal pools, lounge areas, gym, etc. I consider it more of a boutique resort. The Villa We stayed in the Arjuna Villa It was a beautiful stay in a beautiful space. I loved the privacy of our villa. The access through our personal courtyard was charming. The villa was spacious with a traditional high ceiling and well appointed. The bed was heaven. The view to the pool was dreamy. The bathroom has an outdoor botanical garden concept that can take a minute to get used to but was sonice. You just have to be sure to keep the bathroom access door closed to keep out mosquitos or salamanders which wasnt a problem. The toilet sink areas are enclosed. The shower and tub areas are in the enclosed garden and are heaven! I couldve soaked in the tub the entire day. Food You will be given a breakfast order sheet each day to choose from a small selection (pancakes (no syrup), French toast, omelet, or noodles. Along with tea/coffee/orange juice and fresh local fruit). We had our meals under the pool cabana. Dinner is available until 7pm. Again a small selection (burgers, chicken, noodles, spaghetti, French fries, etc.). Extras I scheduled in-room massages each day. It was a great way to wind down after a day of touring. Just be sure to google translate the pressure preference. Be prepared to use Google Translate as the staff that you will be in contact the most do not speak English. Hand gestures worked for most of our needs. The staff was very pleasant and attentive to our needs.

First impressions great - but it's the small things that count.I read many of the reviews before booking here. It was one of my pricier choices for my Bali holiday and unfortunately the price didn't match the expectation. On arrival (the owner/manager - didn't ever catch a name) organised a pick-up for me on my request which went smoothly (Riana the tour driver was an excellent source of information and great English skills). The check in was conducted quickly and I was taken to my villa which was beautiful. First impression was a little piece of quiet, peaceful paradise with loads of privacy. However, here as some of the unfortunate negatives: - The 3 staff members didn't speak English (I don't find this acceptable for the price charged) and none of them wear any type of uniform which could come across as too casual - No coffee or tea provided in the rooms (only a kettle and cups) - When using the hot water, the pipes omit a revolting sulphur smell (I ended up taking cold showers) - Room phone didn't work (not that I wanted to use it, but it should be checked. I did try report this but couldn't communicate it so let it go) - Very dirty glasses in the bathroom (see pic attached) - luckily I spotted this before using it. Totally unacceptable - Not much initiative taken by staff (but this is probably due to lack of training by owner/manager in hospitality) - Walk from the room to the gazebo can be seen as a balancing act due to dodging plants on one side and a large step on the other (see pic attached) but this might not be the same for other villas) Would I return? Probably not. I think my money could be better spent at an establishment that has a better sense of caring for their guests. It's a pity as the villas are beautiful.

Not what was promisedThe place is very remote which isn't necessarily an issue. The cockroaches living in the bed of the second room in the two villa set up were much more of an issue. The place looks like it was once lovely but is now becoming in a state of disrepair. Its a high price too, for what you get - some nice decor but lots of damp and mould, the food you can order comes from a local (and not great) takeaway.... The two room villa also has the very 'blocked in' pool so its very private but also no view just a wall. Our first night was fine for us, but not for my son who couldn't sleep with the issue he was having in the second room. We didn't realise until the next night when he refused to go back into his room (he is 18 so not a child!). My husband tried but was out in 3 mins recognising the issue and so our second night we all slept in one room, my husband on a sun lounger. We then cancelled the third night and booked somewhere else. MAJOR issues then as despite the travel company we booked with (who were marvellous) having agreed that we could be refunded, the villa staff refused and we wasted 2 distressing hours trying to sort things. The lack of English speaking staff at this point was truly problematic. Would be warned. On the plus side, the sound of the frogs and birds as dawn breaks was truly beautiful so I would certainly look for somewhere in the area again, but with higher standards of maintenance.

Amazing!A lovely place a bit far from everything but that suits us just well. Perfect room, lovely pool. Absolute tranquiluty and peace of the countryside. Amazing beauty in the architecture and the most beautifut bathroom I have ever seen on Bali (and I have seen a few). If you are looking for a place to chill down with no disturbace, this is it!
