  Adequate

  You can always count on Springhill Suites to have well-designed fairly spacious rooms with good amenities - and this one does have that. The room itself was clean but dated. The bed was very comfortable. The hotel has one elevator for four floors of rooms - I never had a long wait for the elevator, but my husband did. The pool/hot tub area is plain and small but clean. The breakfast was adequate. Parking is easy and there are plenty of eateries nearby. The staff was friendly and competent. Its not the nicest SpringHill Suite that Ive stayed at, but its adequate.

  Just Enough to Make You Comfortable!

  Just a quick stop over on the way to the Badlands and Custer. It was eerie to arrive to a hotel that was all dark and seemed closed due to the lobby being shut down due to COVID. I waited for about 15 minutes for someone to come an check me in. It turns out that the lady that checked us in was the housekeeper too as she was cleaning the elevator. If they had digital checkin, I would have used that. She did suggest some activities for us to do and we did go downtown to a park that evening. Overall great stay.

  COVID limits their offerings.

  A great property and hotel, but limited. Clean, and up to date. However, no breakfast is puzzling. They have the indoor pool open(COVID????), yet they can't spring for breakfast due to the pandemic? A decent bargain ($55 a night) if you go thru Priceline, but standard price wouldn't be worth it.

  Comfortable Stay, Upgraded

  We stayed here for one night as the halfway point on a journey to Kansas City. We have a go to in West Des Moines that we've stayed at the last three times we were in the Des Moines area, but it was unavailable this night, so we tried this property. It was a good stay, but became very good when my upgrade request was granted. We were booked in the King Suite but were upgraded to the Two Room, One Bedroom Suite. So, thank you SpringHill Suites Des Moines West for that! The room was huge. The living area was plenty big, with the sofa bed, a table, and a bar area. The bedroom was also spacious, with room for a desk and plenty of space around the bed. The bathroom was also big. The room was clean, minus the sofa, which could use some cleaning. Otherwise no complaints, other than some wear and tear. The hallways and public areas have a little more wear and tear. There was a luggage cart available during check-in and checkout. Parking was plentiful, and free. It was easy to find off of I-80, and a couple minutes from I-35 as well. There are plenty of dining options in the area, including some you can walk to from the hotel. The price point and some of the reviews worried me a little when reserving, but we would consider staying here again.

  Just "OK" -- disappointing

  I'm going with 3 starts instead of 2 ONLY because the staff is so nice. Well, the lobby is comfortable and attractive. But the room ... Out of 8 pillow on the 2 beds, just two were acceptable, the other 6 were like 20 year old slabs of hard foam. No blanket on the beds, just a very light quilt-thing, I say that because it was not a quilt in any traditional sense. The linens were completely limp, like they had been washed 500 times. I hate that. The bedside clock was unreadable and from the day when you put your iPhone on the clock ... uhhhh ... that has that really long connector that went out about 10 years ago. The TV by the deck did not work. The phone did not work. The water pressure was very poor, The toilet seat would not stay up. The lighting available in the bedroom area was very poor. This is not up to Marriott Standards.
