    Bellingham stop

Visit Ed Bellingham for an overnight on our way to Vancouver. Very nice hotel. Quiet....free shuttle to wherever you want to go. Nce perk as we we're meeting up with family for dinner and didn't know the area.

    Comfortable Bed, Yummy Breakfast

After a weather-caused poor experience at another Marriott property, on the East Coast, we used we points for our stay at SpringHill Suites last week. We enjoyed the suite, reading and relaxing until ready for bed. In the morning, the breakfast had fresh food selections, and was a great way to start off our busy day.

    Red faced apology

Always a clean and friendly hotel. During our first pandemic hotel stay this was more important than ever. Unfortunately my boorish, obnoxious behavior got the best of me over the government rate policy. Which I have used many times at this hotel before but now suddenly didnt (they cut me a break) I didnt qualify for because I was not on official government business. That is neither here nor there. The fact is the hotel is perfect in these uncertain times and the two professional women at the front desk did not warrant or deserve my amateur behavior. To them my apologies. To all you travelers out there, concerned about clean and safe? I would stay here even without the government rate! When you check in give the front desk a break.... They are going through everything just like the rest of us.

Not the way to treat a loyal Marriott customer!

I checked into the Marriott hotel on August 26, 2020 just before 3:00 pm. A charming young lady greeted me and offered me a complimentary bottle of water, and said, Thank you for your loyalty to Marriott Hotels. That was very kind. She made a reservation for me to use the swimming pool at 3:00 pm, and gave me two room keys (Room 548). I went to my room, quickly changed into my swimsuit, grabbed one of the two room keys, and proceeded to the elevator. Oops! I forgot to put on my face mask. So I returned to my room but my key would not open the door. I took the elevator to the 1st floor and approached the front desk. Immediately, a middle-age bald man behind the desk shouted very rudely at me saying, Stand back behind the plastic screen! Where is your mask? I told him that I forgot to put it on before leaving my room, but when I returned to it, my room key would not open the door. I felt so embarrassed and upset because Ive never been so rudely treated at the many Marriott-owned hotels where I have stayed. After all, this was not Nazi Germany!! Its the United States of America, and Im a very loyal Marriott customer. I handed my room key to the young woman who checked me in, and she gave me another key plus a complimentary face mask so that I wouldnt have to again return to my room to recover my own face mask. I had a swim and fortunately my new room key functioned so that I could enter my room. In the morning I printed out some important documents in the super cold air-conditioned lobby, then asked about breakfast. I could see there was no breakfast layout as usual, although the hotels website did NOT indicate this as it should have done. (It was advertised and photographically illustrated to be a complimentary buffet breakfast.). Okay, the virus was the culprit, as the front desk young lady explained when I checked in. So that morning she gave me a substitute breakfast consisting of exactly: * 1 frozen turkey burrito (to be heated in a microwave oven) * 1 orange * 1 small cup of orange juice * 1 chocolate chip cookie For me, this was a barely adequate breakfast, and I wondered why the hotel wouldn't provide, for example, a complimentary gift certificate for a breakfast at a nearby restaurant? Even a $10 certificate at a McDonalds or a Burger King would do! This was an unfortunate disappointment because the hotels website gave no such warning at all about its breakfast program. If I had known about these before-mentioned inconveniences before making my reservation for my Anniversary Night at this Marriott hotel, I would have stayed at another hotel. Nevertheless, given the inconveniences that I experienced this time at the hotel, I wrote an email to the hotel manager, requesting either a complimentary Anniversary Night Stay at a Marriott Hotel or the equivalent of Marriott Reward Points. Of course, I NEVER heard from him. This is how Marriott "rewards" its loyal customers!

    Excellent Stay, Lovely View

Room 522 Let me just start off with how relieved I was when I got into the hotel. Everyone was wearing masks including the guests in the lobby and at the bar! On top of that when I checked in, the gentleman at the check in desk reviewed the rules, (masks required in all areas except for your room) handed me a nice write up explaining pool and fitness room reservation requirements. Breakfast, etc. I forgot to write his name down... you told me you grew up in Drain Oregon... great job, thank you! Our room had mini-frig, microwave, coffee maker, and small counter. Sitting area had sofa-bed in an L-shaped sofa. Two small end tables, desk, desk chair. Theres 2-drawer dresser with flat screen TV that swivels so you can watch from living area or bedroom area. The desk doubles as the divider between living area and bedroom. Bedroom: 2 queen beds, nightstand with 2 narrow shelves, round end table. Bench sits on top of AC unit in front of window, excellent use of space and the views were really nice from the window bench. Dresser with 3 deep drawers with large mirror above it. Walk-in closet - good size with the iron/ironing board. Bathroom: Unique set up, first is the toilet closet with a small pedestal sink, and sliding barn door. On the other side of the walk-in closet is the shower/tub and a large vanity/sink with sliding barn door. The only thing thats missing is a towel rack. There are two hooks between the shower and vanity but I really need a place to hang the hand towel. Same issue with pedestal sink in toilet room. Our room was at the end of the hall and super quiet. The AC worked well. I highly recommend watching the sunrise...stunning! Property: Springhill Suites and Towneplace Suites have their own main entrances; however, they are connected together on all floors and share amenities. Theres a decent sized indoor pool and spa and fitness room (by reservation only). Theres a laundry room on 1st floor. Free parking in front and behind the property plus a gated underground parking lot too. I imagine when it rains or snows the underground lot is very convenient. Breakfast: 2 choices each day, included some kind of microwaveable breakfast wrap or sandwich, protein type bar, very small juice cup, and whole fruit (Orange) We used the Bonvoy app on our first full day to request an exchange of dirty towels for clean ones. 30 mins later they were knocking on the door with the fresh towels (wow that was fast!) I would definitely stay here again and recommend to others.
