Heritage hotel with a Colonial air

We visited Simla via Chitkul and Narkanda. While the approach to the hotel is crowded, the hotel itself is quiet. We were given a choice of comfortable rooms at the rear, overlooking a large garden and a beautiful, uninterrupted view of the mountains. The hotel has its own private parking and is within walking distance of the main attractions on the mall. The dining room serves good meals and the service was flawless. Thank you Manoj, Deepak, Anil and the rest of your team.

Decent real estate with bad service

I had booked a family suite as I was travelling with my wife, children and in-laws. The property was nice, elegant and spacious, no doubt about it. It had a retro look with furniture designed of Nawabi style. A picture perfect real-estate. Till now its all good, but as soon as you take your minds to service, you get a bit of bitter taste. Its not a true family suite as it has no kitchen for you if you want to make something for your kids, etc. The lighting is very dim. These rooms are of premium category but dont have AC, though ac not required in shimla but they charge you in this category. Again while you pay (if not through makemytrip etc) check the bills correctly, they charge you more than 18% GST. then they say its just calculation mistake when caught. Food: Anything that you pay for, that is not included in you room rent is marvelous for the first day only. Breakfast was included in the room rent hence first day it was ok . It was a buffet but variety was few. only toast, boiled eggs, stuffed paratha, puri bhaji and cornflakes. no south indian dishes. and when you ask them they would say the south indian chef left the job, what an excuse. the deteriorated service starts from second day. There is no buffet any more. you need to order, before you break your fast. Wait 1 hour or so and then eat. If you are not a good judge of portion of dishes or the quantity then they would say it would take another half an hour for each dish you order- surely you would not wait that long when you are hungry now. Lunches and dinner are too expensive and they serve you things that they had purchased the last day or ago. the taste of the food goes on in negative scale day by day. they even may serve you rooavzza saying its a fruit juice. hahahaha. vehicle from hotel: Please do not rent a vehicle from the hotel. too expensive and they have a cut with the taxi service and hence the taxi service guy would take you on short tours to complete his ride quickly. There is a person name Mr. Manoj Bansal. Do not call the hotel directly to book else you would encounter this guy who is a dalal for this hotel to bring in customers and then start quarreling with you for 20 - 30 bucks like beggar. Cheap guy , please do not indulge. Book from MakemyTrip or any other site. you would be safe and can charge them through the sites else Makemytrip etc would blacklist them. I did a mistake, you be careful. I give the hotel 2 star just because of its view and retro look.

Convenient friendly hotel serving excellent food

We stayed 3 nights at this charming historic 11-room hotel and thoroughly recommend especially to people who like to be independent and who enjoy walking. Our deluxe room was large, clean & comfortable with amazing views over the valley. The small garden is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the view - monkeys regularly visit. Staff were so helpful and attentive and the food was exceptionally good (thank you chef!) - all cooked fresh to order. We enjoyed long walks to Jakoo Temple and Viceroy House - each taking about 2 hours each way with regular stops. These walks involve very little traffic (unusual in India) except for the first 400 metres from the hotel. Our only criticisms are that the hotel is just too far to walk at night to The Mall restaurants/bars and the old building was quite cold in the evenings - we were kindly given a heater for our room but the dining room and lounge were rather cold so we suggest bringing a sweater or jacket in October. Thank you to everyone at Springfields including the 2 ladies from the family owners who were delightful company and also helpful with advice about the area. We enjoyed the hotel and city very much.
