good hotel in a wonderful locationSporthotel Obereggen is a large and luxurious hotel at the feet of Latemar Dolomites. Obereggen is just a cluster of hotels smartly located around a chair lift at the bottom of a dolomitic crest. Besides the few hotels, the chair lift, an adventure park and a cafè-restaurant there is absolutely nothing. Nothing but nature, mountains, creeks, woods, silence, air; i.e. the kind of place I call a mountain heaven. The hotel itself has a helpful and kind staff, beautiful lounge and dining room, large and clean spa with a big pool and all the typical facilities (sauna, jacuzzi, etc.). The food is very good, based on a mix of tradition and modern cuisine. Breakfast buffet could be more varied. The rooms and other parts of the building are quite old and would need a renovation. Most rooms including the lounge and the restaurant are covered with old carpets that although kept clean are not very hygenic and are a big nuisance for the alergic (like me....).

Fam ski vacationWe stayed a week in the family suite, the suite was all new, rooms were big, clean and the bathroom was very modern. Only minus is no balcony and the TVs are a little small. The hotel offers everything you need including a kindergarten with different activities from 13:00-22:00 and a big pool which the kids loved. Dinners here are a real delight and every evening they bring out a different 3-5 course menu, awesome! Service all around the hotel is extremely good and the employees are all polite and welcoming, you can see the owner has a huge influence on how things are done Location is hard to top, ski in/ski out and its right next to the ski school. We will be back!

Nearly perfect - Upgrade to "Excellent" because of a good dealWe stayed for 4 nights and it was a good choice. Since we got a good deal we are upgrading the rating to excellent experience. Otherwise one would have to expect more for money. But in this case the price was right in accordance to the value provided (70 Euro per night and person). The rooms are nice and tidy. Some added the comment before that rooms need an update. We stayed in one of the updated rooms. No carpets anymore and modern outfit. But we saw some rooms that are still waiting for a renovation. Food is good, on the edge to excellent. Breakfast is adequate to three star, dinner fits to a four star rating. Problem is only, that the dining room is operated on some days without a real headwaiter. And so performance was not the best on the first two days but got much better as a senior waiter took over the control on day three to five. The stuff was really nice but trainees need advice and when lead and advised by a young waiter that is nice but not very fast, motivated and experienced, than performance has to go down. The Monday-session at 5pm on the mountain has to be seen. A free ride to 2000m above sea level and complimentary drinks and Speck is a nice welcome. On Tuesdays one can join a free guide for a hiking trip. The guide Karl is very nice and gives a variety of advices where to go and what so see. Even if you are normally hiking alone, use the guide in the first few days of your stay. This will pay off! Overall: Updated breakfast to four star level and a experienced, motivated headwaiter on alls days and we would rate with excellent even with the tagged price. Taking into account that we got a fair deal: Upgrade to excellent - also because we stayed in a renovated room.

Ski hotelGreat hotel, located right next to the ski slopes, ski schools, ski lifts, rental equipment, shops and first aid, restaurant and apres ski bars! (All within a 30 meter walk!) The hotel staff went above and beyond to make our stay happy and relaxed. Although the hotel doesnt offer vegan meals, we spoke with the restaurant staff and the chefs created new meals for us every day (as well as a wide selection of a salad buffet beforehand) If I were to make one minorly critical point: it would be nice to have at least one fixed vegan option on the menu every day. We were tired on the last day and decided to visit some nearby towns, unfortunately we got caught in a blizzard on the way back up to the hotel. The hotel owner himself came out and pulled our car up the hill with his 4x4 himself! (Many thanks Gottfried, this is service well beyond our expectations :-)) The hotel itself has a welcoming reception, delightful fire, swimming pool, sauna and a hotel bar. This was a fantastic trip with plenty of fun blue and red ski slopes (with one or two black ones as well) I highly recommend this hotel and thank them for making this a memorable stay. Many thanks!
