  A place of dreams

  Hotel Sportalm, St.Leonhard im Pitztal, Plangeross, a little town at about 9 km from St.Leonhard im Pitztal, situated at 1615m above sea level! An ideal place for holidays even for the most enraged mountain lovers. Pitztal was revealed slowly, from Wenns and showed us a really wild beauty and the location of the hotel 4 * Sportalm, we enjoyed very much, 1615m, we came to believe! It was a moment of cold fear, because this altitude, but everything turned out to be just afraid! It was very hot here, even though there were clouds all around. Please note, the hotel is surrounded only by peaks over 3000m !! Less so! The room was found to be at a height of 4 *. Quite large, tastefully furnished and clean. The bathroom is large and equipped. Noted the lack of soap in the bathroom. Breakfast is buffet Swedish and dinner is salad buffet, soup, a choice of main course plus dessert. Everything takes place in an atmosphere of sober, distinguished elegance and listing of dishes is a true story! You went through quite a collection of delicacies! I note here, abundance precooked products instead of products prepared in our own kitchen! It proves a desired location sober people, who want to rest and here they find this ... Attractions: Pitztal Glacier and the highest Cafe at 3440m in Austria, Rifflesee, Kaunertal Glacier plus Kaunertal Gletscherstrasse, Karlesjochbahn, gondola you climb to 3100m, wonders of Hochzeiger, trails stretch along and the valley of Pitztal, etc., etc ...

  Horrible service, rooms below average

  We had a very unpleasant 3-night stay at this hotel in early December 2019. Our disappointing experiences in this hotel were as follows: 1. Guests who did not book directly via their website were given a lesser treatment than those who did. We booked via Secret Escapes and most of the staff were unfriendly towards us and made us feel unwelcomed in their hotel. Upon arrival, we were assigned possibly the worst room in the hotel in the main building (where the dining room is located). The room was tiny, smelled bad, had old run-down furniture, dirty old sheets and a bathroom that looked dated and unhygienic. The room was also a long walk (through a cold underground tunnel with many steps) to the sauna area and swimming pool. As we've planned to relax and rejuvenate for this vacation, we requested to have a room closer to the sauna and pool (which we then found out would cost us 70 extra for 2 pax/night, on top of the more than 150/night we were already paying per night, bringing the price to more than 220/night in the new room). We agreed to the extra charges, hoping that it would be an upgrade in comfort as well, but we were wrong. 2. We were not informed beforehand that renovation works are still ongoing in the building where the new room is located. Neither notice nor apology was provided by the owners at all. Essentially, the knocking and drilling noises came from all corners outside of our new room starting from early in the morning and disrupted our entire stay. Wooden planks and tools were placed on the corridor outside of our room. We also had to keep our curtains closed the whole time, as there were construction workers on our terrace during most of the day. The construction workers were also talking very loudly and were uncouth. Due to the renovation works, the hallway and corridor were also constantly dirty. 3. Overall food quality was below average. Breakfast spread was ok, but the bread was dry with limited variety. They also served the same breakfast spread every day. Afternoon snack was also below average, with very limited quantity of food, usually insufficient for latecomers. The dinner menu was very disappointing. The soups were always too salty, most dishes tasted below average and the portions were small, leaving guests unsatisfied after dinner. 4. It was impossible to relax in the pool or even the reading room due to unbearable noises coming from the renovation works. 5. The owners (its a family-run hotel) were very unfriendly. The owner, Martin, looked grumpy and unhappy whenever we saw him. Guests who did not order wine were treated in a very unfriendly manner by Daniel, their in-house Sommelier. The lady who served coffee during breakfast was also unwelcoming. However, the owner's father, Sepp, was friendly and chirpy towards guests. 6. The owner's daughter, who tends to the reception desk, was rude towards us during check out. When we tried to provide our feedback while checking out, she was not receptive of any feedback and responded to us in a rude way. She basically blamed us for requesting to change our room when we pointed out that the construction work disrupted our stay. However, the thing is, she did not mention to us about the ongoing renovation works until we experienced it for ourselves. This was highly unprofessional. And it was discourteous of her to tell us that "it was our decision to switch rooms" when we checked in. Should we have been informed of the ongoing renovation works, we may have made a different decision. 7. Parking area was too narrow and limited. 8. Room was too warm (central heating) which made it impossible to sleep comfortably. We were practically sweating the whole night. Opening the terrace door provided minimal relief. Overall, highly unrecommended. Too expensive for such poor-quality stay, with very unfriendly personnel. Spend your money elsewhere, this hotel is not worth a try. Highly disappointing.

  Amazing Stay at Hotel Sportalm

  We had an amazing stay in Hotel Sportalm. Everything was great, the rooms / the food / the wellness / the hosts ... I would recommend this hotel to everyone ! We would definitely go back :). Besides that it's amazing to go hiking / biking / horse riding etc.
