  Tucked away in paradise

  Recently used this hotel as a base for a Swimtrek holiday and was enchanted by the location, standard of the hotel and the amazing service. At first glance this island has little to offer but the week there appealed to everyone in the family, from adults to teenagers. The atmosphere in the hotel was relaxed but they work hard to maintain a high standard. Nothing was ever too much trouble, from popping us over in their own ferry to the mainland for supper or organizing transfers from Split or transport to the larger, more commercial beach. The island is like Greece was before it was ruined and the Croatian people are proud of this. Restaurants offer simple food on the island but be prepared for a wait - they are on holiday time. When the sun goes down everyone comes out to walk around and buy ice creams (simple pleasures). As for the water - the clearest and most beautiful sea in the world. We can't wait to go back.

  Absolutely Fantastic!

  The Spongiola is a lovely hotel. I have never stayed anywhere so pretty! The location is a beautiful, unspoiled island set on crystal clear, transparent waters that can only be reached by boat. Wonderful. The hotel has a private beach and its own water taxi. The rooms are very spacious and quiet (I saw 3 rooms where my friends stayed). Some with sea view and balcony. I had a fully stocked fridge, bathtub and safe. The hotel has a small bar and very lovely food in the restaurant. I had breakfast every morning and 3 evening meals. The food was always very fresh and the fish was especially good. The bread and fruit was delicious and the portion sizes were huge. Evening meal was usually 4 courses and I agree with other reviews, the hotel chef is very good. There were always plenty of staff to help with requests and I can honestly say that my experience of the hotel service was excellent. The hotel has a plunge pool, gym and two massage tables. The massage I had was very good. Evening drinks outside the hotel overlooking the sea was very nice. The hotel is footsteps away from a small village shop, ice cream shop, picturesque bars over looking the sea and restaurants. You can walk around the island in less than an hour and you can swim around it easily. You can book a diving course from the hotel with the local dive boat and every day I saw fisherman bringing home their catch. There is even a museum of sponges on the island and the hotel itself has lots of interesting photography from times gone by (when the hotel was a sponge warehouse!!) If you want to leave the island it takes less than 10 minutes to reach the shore by the hotel sea taxi which is free and available whenever you are ready. I was very impressed with the airport taxi booking service from the hotel. I enjoyed my 7 day stay here very much.

  Fantastic stay

  We visited the Spongiola Hotel in June, just before the season started. The island of Krapanji is quite small but beautiful- no cars are allowed which was paradise. The hotel is family run, and is reflected by amazing service - Nicole (usually front of house) could not do enough for us - always cheery and smiling. Her uncle Nino, also sometimes front of house and always on hand if you wanted to take the boat to the mainland where you would be met by Eddie was very obliging. We simply loved our stay here. The hotel is small but modern and well equipped. The food was plentiful and very reasonably priced. A great location from which you can explore other places eg Krka National Park and Sibenik . Nicole kindly arranged a private boat charter for us with her grandad Nikola - we had a fantastic day with him - lots of fun and laughs. We highly recommend a visit to this beautiful place and hope to return one day soon.

  Fantastic hotel

  What a great find. This is the perfect hotel on the little island of kranpanj. It is the ideal place to relax, we stayed for 5 days at the start of our holiday. Nothing is too much for the team at this hotel, Nino and Milena and the bar man were fantastic , so welcoming. Also Mario the life guard was the most smiley and friendliest person ever, always seeing if we needed drinks or some help. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, we needed to ask for a wifi router as the connection wasn't so good, we also asked for some more hangers in the wardrobe, this was no problem, it was all sorted out quickly. My son went diving twice and really enjoyed his trip out with the diving team. Overall we really enjoyed ourselves and were sad to leave and would love to return.

  From door to beach in around 3 hours!

  This was a last minute decision....trying to find somewhere to spend a few days that was unlikely to be taken off the Govs travel corridor guidance list. It was a great choice...from the departure gate at Gatwick to the hotel only took us around 3 hours. We booked with the hotel direct who were really helpful...gave us a good discount, wouldnt take any money from us until we arrived just in case Gov guidance changed, and arranged all the airport transfers for us a well. Everyone at the hotel was so nice...couldnt do enough for you. The rooms and food (half board) was adequate, the beach and facilities superb. The island itself is quite small, but a few restaurants and bars and a small shop was fine for a few days. I will definitely be coming back here for another short break....a great find.
