    Beautiful, luxurious and restful

Two nights and that was not long enough. We felt spoilt in every way from the time of arrival, while staying at the retreat and as we, reluctantly, left. The surroundings are beautiful. Elevated views over beautiful grounds to the water below. No noise apart from the birds and water lapping on the sands below. Enjoy the two beaches, including Split Apple, which can be accessed by a short, but slightly steep walk. There is easy access via a short drive to the Abel Tasman Park (we enjoyed a picnic lunch, packed by Pen on one of the many gorgeous beaches) or the option to enjoy the infinity pool or fantastic hot tub. Both of which have expansive water views. The room was truly lovely, well appointed, spacious and leading on to a private seating area. In every way we felt pampered, by not only the hosts, Lee and Pen, but also by the staff who made every effort to make our stay memorable. At all times information was available, everyone was friendly without being either intrusive or unapproachable. We enjoyed a fantastic hot stone massage while in house and would highly recommend. No review would be complete without a mention of the food. Pen, a chef, and her husband Lee, a retired doctor, believe food should not only taste delicious but also be satisfying, healthy, balanced and presented to the highest standard. Both their hearty breakfasts and fabulous dinners (loved the watermelon Gazpacho) were of the highest standard. Desserts were decadent but healthy. To add to the experience Pen included a copy of her book. This not only includes recipes from her collection but also an informative forward of their non deprivation theory on healthy eating. In no way did Split Apple Retreat fall short. We have every intention of returning to recharge and would recommend anyone wanting a luxury, beautiful and restful stay in this area to consider Split Apple Retreat.

    A Real Treat

Split Apple Retreat..The location is stunning, the place is restful & relaxing, but the people make it! Any question we asked, or arrangements requested prior to arrival were dealt with quickly and efficiently, thank you JJ. Our welcome was warm and inviting, like arriving at someone's beautiful home. The food, well, thank you Chef Pen, for proving at every meal that food can not only be very good but also very good for you! Each evening we complimented Pen's exquisite food with similarly outstanding wines from Lee's wine cellar. .. Lee, a retired doctor with a passion for a holistic approach to life also shared with us his meditation techniques and the retreat's media room provided a quiet, comfortable space to explore that. We chatted to Pen & Lee about their latest project, a yoga, heath and wellness retreat near Golden Bay. After our wonderful experience at Split Apple I am sure we will be visiting their new venture as soon as possible. In summary I highly recommend Split Apple Retreat. you will enjoy the unique beauty of our country; exceptional service, a world-class culinary experience and the peace and tranquility that this exceptional team have created.

    Perfection!

From the moment we arrived, everything was wonderful. We were greeted and welcomed by Jj and immediately felt at home. Lee gave us a tour of the house and told us about some of the gorgeous Asian antiques and art that were in every room. When we were taken to our luxurious room, our luggage had already been brought in and there were lots of little amenities to make our stay even more lovely. We had two private garden retreats outside our door and a spectacular view of the ocean, mountains and the Abel Tasman National Park. In the mornings we meditated in the very comfortable meditation room and started our days very expanded and relaxed. Breakfast was extravagant and delicious. The buckwheat pancakes are a must! Dinners were beautiful, delicious, healthy and Chef Pen is an magician with flavours. Every course made me swoon with delight. I had a massage session that was one of the best Ive ever had. The staff were all delightful and the service was impeccable. They anticipated every need or desire we had. The garden areas were lovely to explore and sit in. The sal water infinity pool and the Japanese hot tub were wonderful. I could go on and on raving about the Split Apple Retreat. My only suggestion is that you book for more days than you think you want. They still wont be enough! Thank you Lee, Pen, Jj, Paige and the entire staff!
