  Busy street, outdated room but friendly staff

  Stayed for 3 nights. Our room was facing a busy street, I woke up constantly to the sounds of the traffic. If you book a room from Sparre definitely ask for a room facing the inner yard. Only then you can get some sleep. Breakfast was ok. It would be nice if the breakfast time could be longer, 06:30-09:00 was too early for me. On holiday I personally do not like waking up so that I don't miss the breakfast. The room had a small tv, double bed, toilet with a shower. Very basic and perhaps a little outdated. This hotel definitely needs a renovation. New windows & doors with better soundproofing are necessary. The staff is friendly, no complaints of it. The location is also great, all the shops and the old quarter are near.

  A worn out hostel, not a hotel

  Porvoo is a beautiful summertown, but there are a great shortage of hotels in the centre. We had to stay over night in the centre after the party, and Sparre was the only candidate. The hotel is in a bad shape, very worn out and the rooms has no ventilation at all. The service was scarce, but okey. The breakfast... Okey, you got your morning coffee. Beds are not confortable. This is more like hostels. It's all too expensive (120/night for two persons); better price could be 40-50 for that you get. If you can avoid, choose another place to sleep in.

  Hotel Sparre - Changes are happening and the location is great

  Great location, only 5 minutes from the bus station, and less than 10 minutes walk from the old town. Rather outdated, though ownership has just changed hands and the management are very accommodating and positive about their renovation plans. The room was clean and functional, breakfast was extremely good. The restaurant like the rest of the hotel is going to be renovated. Blackout blinds in the bedrooms will replace the current blinds as the hotel overlooks a busy street, however, the bed was comfortable and shower good and the room was spacious with an additional sofa. It worked well for a short stay and once renovations are complete, I think this will be an exceptional hotel due to its location.

  Bathroom probelem

  A bathroom can be build without floor heating, but then the floor material has to be water proof. Unfortunately rhis is nor the case ( at least in the room we were) the floor was tiled and as water seeps through the seams as it does sooner or later anyway and mold will start to grow under the tiles. A strong smel mild greets you in the bathroom. Pity, since otherwise the hotel was quite nice except for some street noise in the rooms on the street side and and well situated..

  Nice accommodation and great location

  Stayed at Sparre with my two boys (10 and 8 yrs) in their Superior room which was very spacious and nice looking. TV set was also good as we watched Finland beat Ireland 1-0 :) After the game we went to large and tidy sauna, and in the morning had very versatile and well-prepared breakfast. Staff was helpful and nice, so overall very pleasant stay and really good value for money.
