  Spa hotel at Varkaus

  It happened that we should stay this hotel at Varkaus one day. As looking, it is quite old motel type hotel with many rooms in different located buildings. Inside of hotel is same as expected, simple medium room with old TV set, wood furniture and so-so bed. Actually we tried to cancel them after seeing it, but office lady was booked it and we can not cancel it at that time. Sauna is ok with swimming pool. Except them, everything is not so good. I avoid this hotel next time.

  Old fashioned but good

  The hotel is outside the city, on the lake and it strangely looks like a retirement house. We just met old people taking baths and sauna, dancing along the corridors and singing karaoke. But anyway the room was quite comfortable and the breakfast buffet is good.

  Hotel located in a nice location

  The hotel is located in a nice location surrounded by lakes and forest; the hotel needs a complete renovation as the rooms are basic and old; the hotel has a nice spa with swimming pool; the breakfast is good, parking is free. The prices we paid (103 euro 2 adults + 1 child of 10) maybe is too much but again the location and the spa compensate the lack of rooms.

  Worn but clean spa hotel

  We were positively surprised when visiting Kuntoranta in the beginning of July. The room floor and furniture were worn-off, but room was well cleaned and fresh. Also the breakfast was wide and tasty. We were a participant of birthday party and all our relatives who have also their accommodation in Kuntoranta mentioned their room to be OK when discussed about this issue together during breakfast. So this spa hotel is not "so terrible" that some of these evaluations claims.

  Worst place..

  I have ever stayed at. Would not recommend this for anyone who would want a quiet, nice, clean place for the night. The price was very high for what we actually got, which was a room with bunk beds and the door (yes, door not a wall) between the two rooms was as thin as a sheet (we heard their dog walking) so the family with children in the next room, who were screaming, singing, talking loudly, were heard very well. They didn't stop until 23:30 and started again 7 in the morning. Very short sleep for us. Breakfast buffet wasn't anything to give more stars either. Even 1 star is too much for this price, compared to the place we stayed the night before, where we had a full house on the lake for half the price of this place.
