Old hotel, little English, good views

I stayed here for just 2 nights, in a weekend off, during a business trip to the Pearl River Delta Region. I did the booking through an travel agency in my home country. I didnt contact them directly and I didn't depend on them to touring the region. The hotel lies a 15min walk from downtown in a much calmer region, besides the Li river. The hotel may have its own charm, but I think it needs some real improvements. The furniture seemed to be very old and the rooms seemed they could be better cleaned, but nothing to demerit the hotel itself. I think it is because I was in the older building (there is a newer part), but the views from my window was amazing. So, get up earlier and watch the sun rise above the mountains and the river. The rooms were not very illuminated, but (thanks God!) it was very well soundprooved. When you come to Yangshuo, you will know why it is very very important. The locals like to use their horn everywhere, anytime. The staff barely spoke English. During the check-in, I was lucky because I was with the driver who picked me up in the airport. But during the check-out I had problems, as none of them spoke English. I was able to finish the check-out just after they called one who knew a few basic words. The breakfast was good enough, full of options for those who like Chinese delicatessen (as I do). Those who do not like may have some trouble. As I got to the restaurant, they hold my hands and took me to a reserved place where other "foreigners" were having their breakfast. Then, they brought me some "occidental" food, like yogurt, tomato, butter and bread. It was funny. At the time I stayed here, they didn't offered any meal despite the breakfast. I do not think I would return here if I eventually come to town again. However, it is hard to know the situation in other hotels. On the other hand, Yangshuo is a very beautiful and different town just one-hour flight from Shenzhen / Hong Kong / Guangzhou. Surely it deserves some days to be visited. The hotel was average, but the tours with the guide well worthed the trip. I got an English speaker guide whose name was Amy. I found recommendations of her in the Tripadvisor forum and do not regret it. I really recommend her. But it is another post

I stayed in both the main building and the VIP building.

I stayed in both the main building and the VIP building. The main building rooms were old looking. There were stains on the carpet and they still had a really old TV. That said, I thought the rooms were good enough for the price in China. The VIP building rooms were much nicer. It had a more modern feel, and had a new TV. There were still a few stains in the carpet. The location is GREAT. It is right along the river. Yangshuo is much smaller than Guilin, but I think it is MUCH better. Guilin is a city, and Yangshuo is a smaller town. The main reason to come down here is to see the countryside and the crazy looking hills. Yangshuo is much closer to them. In Yangshuo the hills and countryside are right there. While this place is not the best ever, I would stay here again because it is a good value and is in a good location.

    avoid this hotel

We stayed 4 nights in the VIP room. The facilities in the room are decent and the view from the porch is excellent. The location is very convenient. However, the breakfast is inedible, we had to fight to get our money back after the first morning. The staff is downright rude, No one speaks English, not even in the tourist information in the lobby. I definitely recommend staying somewhere else.

    Avoid

A business or large group hotel, not a good choice for solo/family groups. No character and no soul. Staff are (mostly) unhelpful and lazy - unwilling to even try to help. Good location, but there are MANY other, much nicer places to stay. Save your money and spend it on a place that will add to your experience of Yangshuo and not detract from it. Wi-Fi doesn't penetrate into the rooms; in room routers do not work. Didn't try the food.

    Good Location

The hotel is perfectly situated if you want the sights and sounds of the very popular West Street in Yangshuo. Hotel room was ok, basic but comfortable. I didnt eat in the hotel except for breakfast which could do with some more western options.
