    Beautiful B&B

I stayed one night with my 13 year old on our cross country trip during COVID-19. The house is just gorgeous. Well appointment, very clean, beds very comfortable. Great location as well. Highly recommend.

    Very good experience

Charming bed & breakfast in an excellent location for visits to the Plaza or Nelson Atkins Museum. I stayed in the Kersey Coates room, a small room at the top of the stairs. The queen bed was very comfortable (and high) with good quality linens. A more comfortable chair would be an improvement. This room has a deck with chairs and a swing. So nice for morning coffee. Bathroom was small but clean and well stocked. It would benefit from a shelf or small table for toiletries. There is a spacious courtyard with a stone fireplace. Lovely spot for breakfast or cocktails. No-contact check-in/check-out was appreciated. Parking (behind the house) is a bit narrow and tricky.

    Talk about location!

Thank you Talia for the wonderful experience at Southmoreland. The beautiful mansion turned B&B was the icing on the cake for our Covid Christmas Lights Tour in Kansas City! But, any time of year would be perfect for a stay at Southmoreland. If it's the lights on The Plaza, art galleries, dining, historical home tours, Crown Center, Union Station, etc., You can walk to most and have a 5 minute drive to the others. As a group of four, all of us loved our rooms that are named for prominent people of the KC area. From the moment we arrived Talia, the Innkeeper, was thrilled to greet us and enjoy hearing the plans of our stay. A coffee on the private deck off my room before a decedent breakfast that seemed specially made for us set a positive adventurous mood for each day. There would be no reason to stay anywhere else for what ever reason you travel to KCMo. Lastly, during this time of extenuating circumstances such as covid, Southmoreland covered all the needs to keep all their guests safe.

    Beautiful

We stayed in the south Moreland in mid December. The room was very comfy and cozy. The location is out standing. We walked to the plaza for dinner and shopping. Parking was easy. The little extras were very nice. We will be back.

    Mid-Week KC Getaway

My husband and I wanted a quick getaway to KC but didn't want to deal with hotels. I stumbled upon Southmoreland Inn on my search, and I was thrilled! We arrived at checkin time at 4, but it's contactless checkin. We had a code to get into our room and it was flawless! We stayed Monday-Wednesday and we had the whole place to ourselves! (Like whole Inn, not just the Carriage House) We stayed in the Carriage House, and it was great! One note: We were in the George Kessler Suite, and there is a lot of light in the parking lot outside the window, so the room isn't super dark at night. We ended up getting some sleeping masks (thanks Old Navy Clearance!), because we like it DARK! That made all the difference! The room was great. The breakfast was great! Talia had some extras from the weekend that she gave us, and it was DELISH. She was great, very hospitable, and kind. Everything you want your innkeeper to be! We spent a little more time in the room due to Covid, We snuggled up and watched some superhero movies. The location is SUPERB. We walked to the Plaza each night to eat, and it's such a nice stroll! We ended up taking a walk and found ourselves in the middle of the Kansas City Art Institute Campus. Very nice area! Parking is a little tight, I assume a large truck would be harder to maneuver in the parking area. We have an SUV that is a mid-size and was perfect. Most of the images on here are outdated, and the rooms have been updated. Check their site for updated images! If you're on the fence about staying here, just do it! We will be back, for sure!
