  Terrible Customer Service

  Ourselves and other guests were kept up all night by one room of party goers that were rowdy until 7AM. One room that we were aware of had already called the front desk to make a complaint but nothing was done about it. My partner had to go outside at 4AM to ask the group if they could please tone it down and to give consideration to the rest of the guests trying to sleep. The noise was turned down but still continued until 7AM. After a few hours of broken sleep and getting up to have breakfast, we noticed ANTS all over the kitchen bench. Our left over snacks from the night before were in the bin and two plates and a rinsed chopping board were left out on the bench and in the sink. My partner went to the office to mention the ants and the noise issue. The young female at reception who said she was at the hotel all night said she never heard any noise, another guest overheard the conversation said she had called to make a complaint but nothing was done. When she was shown the ants in the room, she just counted them and said it was out fault for leaving food out - which was placed in the open bin provided.. She was asked to call her manager but was not interested in sorting the matter. We had requested she pass on our details to the manager to give us a call back so we could express our disappointment . This has not happened and we can no longer reach them as they have blocked our numbers so they are no longer reachable. More than half a roll of toilet paper would be nice to! Would have been a great place to stay if the customer service was improved! This would have been resolved very easily had the manager of the hotel had given us a call back to discuss, Maybe staff had not passed on our information, who would know as they have no interest in the issues. Gone from bad to just worse! Great way to treat your customers, not only us but all of the other guests you had staying! Just remember, without your guests you have no business.

  Value for money

  Stayed for one night. Definitely would stay here again. We had a renovated 1 bedroom unit. It was lovely & clean. Good shower. Bed was comfortable. The only thing I probably wasnt happy with was the pillows but everyones different. Highly recommend

  Very disappointed

  We arranged a late check in, (9.30) they left our key in a box with the room number, and when we went to our room we realizes that they double book it. We have to phone them 5 times to get a response and finally they send us to an other motel. No any compensation for their mistake. Really disappointed service.

  Enjoyable and convenient stop-over.

  My wife and I and our two daughters spent 2 nights at 53 Southern Comfort Motel. The accommodation was spacious and clean and consisted of 2 single beds in a separate room, as well as a double bed in an open plan lounge and kitchen area. The beds were very comfortable and the shower was adequate, although it was difficult to control the temperature and pressure of the water. The on-site laundry facilities, with coin operated washing machines and tumble dryers, were very convenient. Washing powder was also supplied for free. The location of the motel is good as it is close to central Christchurch and Hagley Park is a short 5 minute walk away. Overall, the motel was an enjoyable and convenient stop-over to visit Christchurch attractions.

  If you want to be treated like scum stay here.

  I asked why the pool wasn't as per the website, after a lot of discussion I was yelled at by the management and threatened with a trespass notice, I suggested they update their website as they were selling their motel under false pretenses and were happy to take our money and not apologize for the inconvenience. I had two very upset children as we were looking forward to using a pool coming from down south this is a bit of a novelty. The room was pretty disgusting, big old dusty cobwebs, the room wasn't serviced properly. yes the price was low but still a minimum standard was not met, these people running the place are terrible humans that are happy to yell at and abuse their paying customers. If you want to be treated like scum stay here.
