  Wonderful gem, felt like staying at the home of a good friend

  Wonderful in all respects, a great find! Our hostess, Chelle, was extremely attentive to our needs, went to great lengths to avoid fruits which my girlfriend is allergic to. She made delicious and creative breakfasts each morning. She sat with us during breakfast and it was a pleasure to chat with her as she is a fascinating woman. She provided very helpful advice as to sights to see and restaurants to try. All in all, we had a great time; would highly recommend it to anyone looking for nice, homey, affordable and convenient place to stay in Philadelphia

  UPenn visit

  Good location, close to UPenn, clean and comfortable room and private bathroom. Delicious breakfast; the banana pancakes in a muffin were wonderful. Chelle joined us. She is knowledgable about all things Philly and had great recommendations of things to see on my one free day. Bottled water in the room came in handy after walking around all afternoon. When she found out that I had to leave at 5:30 AM she left the light on downstairs for me so that I could get out easily. I will definitely return if I am back in the area! Thank you Chelle for making me feel so at home.

  Very Convenient Location at a Great Price!

  We booked a two night stay online. Chelle, the proprietor, emailed to ask our arrival time, and despite us being early, she was very gracious and got us into the room very quickly. The house is located just east of the South Street Bridge over the Schuylkill River. The number 40 bus stops directly in front of the house. There is only street parking available, so using public transit is highly recommended! We were there for two days and did not move our car once. The location is very convenient for access to Center City via the bus, the sports complex via bus and subway; and the University of Pennsylvania via bicycle or on foot, as is the Schuylkill Banks Boardwalk. Chelle has two bicycles available to rent and there is an Indigo bicycle rental across 27th street from her house. South street has a bike lane, so bicycling is very easy! The room is very comfortable, including a private, full bath with shower (no tub). Chelle was very flexible with breakfast serving times. If you are looking for a B&B type of accommodation, I definitely recommend!

  Dirty and disappointed

  I very rarely give bad reviews, but if I could give less than one star for this establishment I would. It is posted that there are cats on the premises and honestly I was fine with that. I assumed that meant the hair would be cleaned up, but that was not the case. Unfortunately, the South Bridge Bed and Breakfast was not only dirty when I first entered, but extended all the way up to my room. Initially everything looked good but as I was preparing for bed everything took a turn for the worse. On the counter of my bathroom were fingernails that were not my own. When I pull back the sheets there was hair. In the shower? A dirty washcloth. The owner of the establishment had gone out for the evening and I was unable to share the state of the room with her. The next morning when I came down someone was there and in an effort to not embarrass her I sent an email explaining the situation after I left. The email I received from her in response basically said she was called away during cleaning my room and must have forgotten to get back to it. When I inquired about getting my money back she said she would send me a check. The check I received was for $30 of the $175 I paid for the room along with the certificate for a free night. I have stayed in bed and breakfasts and hotels all over the world and this was absolutely the worst place Ive ever stayed in.

  Excellent Customer Service!!

  I booked a room for next week for my friend to stay while I undergo a heart operation nearby. The doctor had to reschedule the appointment to another day. I had made the reservation through an online booking site and it was non-refundable. I called Chelle at the hotel and she was kind enough to call the online site and was able to get me a full refund! I so appreciate her willingness to help me out at this stressful time for me. I highly recommend you try this B & B!
