Fabulous hotel with helpful friendly staff & delicious foodOur family spent a lovely one week half board holiday in early July at Antonius Hotel as part of package holiday booked through TUI travel. From the minute we arrived into reception we were impressed with the cleanliness of the place and the efficient check-in. Our large room was overlooking the front of the hotel and initially I was worried that it would be noisy at night or early morning but we had no such problems with noise. In fact, we had a lovely view out over the mountains and it was beautiful watching the mist clearing off the mountains each morning. As well as twin beds pushed together in the bedroom we had a bed-settee for the children in the living area. I asked for a second duvet in order for my son to use the second settee and this was provided and the second bed was made up for us immediately. Extra chairs were also provided for the balcony. As other reviews have stated, food and drink was both plentiful and very tasty. Not a lot of vegetables with the dinner main course but there was an extensive salad buffet to remedy that! We had a fantastic bbq buffet one evening, all other evenings we had table service. When we were booking the holiday we were advised by TUI that a light lunch would be available at the hotel or a packed lunch upon request. Upon check-in we were advised that lunch is not served at the hotel and that packed lunches must be ordered before 5pm the previous day and cost 7 per person. We didn't avail of this as we were never back at the hotel before 5pm any evening and anyway there were restaurants at every destination we visited. Also, I had checked with the hotel about childrens meals before we booked our holiday and had been advised that we would have to pay extra per day if either of our children wanted to eat off the adult menu. As the childrens menu (fish fingers, pasta, etc) was really only for small children I booked an adult holiday through TUI for my son so he was able to enjoy food off the adult menu. Reception have a wide range of board games and packs of cards which we were able to borrow and enjoy playing while relaxing after dinner. There's table tennis and table football in the playroom in the basement. The outdoor pool was quite cold but the indoor pool was very enjoyable. The 660 bus, which connects Kitchenhorn and Zell am See, has its bus stop about 10 minutes walk from the hotel and runs every half hour. Reception staff were very helpful with all our queries about bus trips and excursions. In fact, all staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful throughout the entire holiday. Overall, we had a most enjoyable time at Antonius and we look forward to returning there one day. Thank you all.

Excellent hotelHad a really lovely family holiday here in July. Antonius is a great hotel. We were impressed with the friendliness and efficiency of the staff, loved the size of the rooms and also the amount of storage space this is the first holiday when I've had more drawers/shelves than I need. Loved the walk-in wardrobe. There was a safety deposit box in the room but it was tiny, so good for money and passports but not so much for gadgets. The hotel was spotlessly clean throughout. Food was of a high standard. Me and my children are vegetarian which is sometimes tricky but we were pleased with what we had here. Breakfast was my particular favourite, with a lovely selection including great coffee and delicious bread. Enjoyed the daily cakes at 3-4pm too, nice timing as we were often just returning back from a day trip around then! The summer card given by the hotel was amazing and we did so much with it. It let us try lots of things that we may otherwise have overlooked, it also saved us a fortune on activities. Our children really liked the hotel pools, as did we. The indoor one was handy during the occasional rainy day. I was impressed particularly with how nice the outdoor pool was, and liked that it was metal rather than tiled. Was so glad we were based in Kaprun which is much quieter (and a lot nicer, I thought) than Zell, although was an easy bus trip away. Public transport links were reliable and easy to use so we did loads of trips. Kaprun was a handy base for the Glacier, Maiskogel and Sigmund Thon Gorge. Thank you Antonius and I'd highly recommend this hotel!

HonestyDue to a misunderstanding it seems Ive made a reservation that I wanted to cancel since weve found a better option for our family. The hotel has really been kind to accept it. Were looking forward to being their guest on another occasion.

The most rude and unprofessional staff i have ever seenOn the first night we arrived late and they made a mistake on our table booking. We were 4 adults and 5 children from the same family and they booked 2 separate tables. As the restaurant was half empty, I asked them to take 2 empty talbles and put them together, which they denied and forcing us to sit separately. On the 2nd night, one of the kids was not well and did not want fries. Then we asked if it was possible to make a simple plate of pasta with olive oil and it was denied again. I do not recommend this place for families. The service is poor, the staff is rude and unprofessional.

Superb hotel, ideally situated for a ski holidayWe returned from Kaprun on Saturday after a fantastic week skiing. We stayed at the Antonius and I must report back that the hotel is simply lovely. The food is fantastic. So much choice. Fresh and delicious every day, from the ample varied breakfast to the evening meal. Even as a vegetarian I ate well every single day with either a veggie option or fish dish. Our room (303 on 3rd floor) although compact was still ample for us as a couple, with lovely views of the local 'castle'. The hotel is warm throughout (take light clothing for meal times) - we used to switch our radiator off at night and sleep with the window ajar. The bathroom (and separate toilet) were pleasant although a standing shower rather than a hand held would have been preferred. There was plenty of storage space in a huge wardrobe and various cupboards and shelving too. Plenty of room for all our ski coats, salopettes etc. The wifi was non-existent in our room and the hotel offered to assist me with a booster but this also did not work. However, we were on holiday and wifi was not the most important element and did not detract from our experience. I found the swimming pool (inside) a bit small and cool but my husband enjoyed swimming and also used the gym facilities. We also took our running gear and went for some lovely runs in the local area. My only criticism of the hotel is simply the pillows are not at all comfy. But, thats a personal preference and sorted by using a jumper underneath the pillow provided. The ski bus stopped right outside the hotel and we had a seat on every trip (I would recommend staying on right up to the glacier, rather than getting off with everyone else at the Maiskogelbahn lifts, as it takes an age catching various cable cars before you can actually get skiing properly if you want to ski the glacier area). As for the staff, they were simply lovely. Hardworking, always smiling and offering to help. Friendly and efficient. I must also add how sorry I am to read today that the region has now closed due to the outbreak of coronavirus and the shut down of all ski resorts. The staff must be so disappointed.
