    Such a Fun Sooner Atmosphere!

I highly recommend staying at this hotel. It's surprisingly quiet for its age, the beds are comfortable, and the rooms are nice. I love that every room is themed for a Sooner Athlete, but I do wish they would leave a bio or a sign of the name of the person who is pictured. I absolutely loved wandering the halls and looking at all the cool photos, art, and autographs. Breakfast was solid. Location is A+.

Sports fan delight hotel in a good location in Norman

I stayed here 5 nights in early May of 2019 in Rm. 3108, which is actually on the ground floor at the very back of the hotel. The hotel is located at the SW corner of West Lindsey St. and SW 24th St. On the east side of I-35. Hence, a quick and easy find from I-35 and vice versa. Continuing east on West Lindsey St. you will find numerious fast food restaurant, such as Taco Bell, Sonics, Subway, McDonalds, etc.. There is also one sit-down place called Legends that is fairly good. There is also a major supermarket(Homeland) down this way. All of this within walking or very easy driving of about 200-500 yards. West Lindsey Set was extensively reworked and widended to two lanes in both directions along with bike lanes and very good sidewalks on both sides. There is also several gas station along here. I used to live in Norman and recall this structure being built I believe in the early 1970s. Overall, the structure is in decent shape. You will easily find the main entrace by the roof overhang that stands out in front of the main door. You go inside and you will easily find the main desk on the right about 25 feet. It was a quick check in for me since no else was checking in and things were slow then. They were very nice in allowing me to check-in at 10:30 in the morning on Sunday. That is rare for a hotel to do. I went around to the back via outdoor and used my hotel card to get through the secure door. Then walked a short bit to my room. There were pictures of OU Basketball players from the past on the wall down the hallway. A great reference marker for finding your room after you enter your room. I had a two bed room since I was with another persson. You walk in the main door and within 3 feet on the right is the bathroom with the toilet and bath/shower. It is small but big enough for one person. The toilet was on the right upon enter and bath/shower in front. The sink istotally outside the bathroom opposite from the bathroom door. I liked this a lot. There was decent lighting in the sink area. Continuing into the room you find two quieen size beds at least 5 feet from each. Very wide seperation from each other. There is a very good side night table in between with a single lamp on it. There are extra electrical outlets on the back of the lamp. Going past the last opposite the bed is a good size dresser with several drawers of good size. Next to the dresser is another cabitnet with a solid door in front of it. Inside it is a refrig which I used heavily to store drinks and food. Bigger than a college doorm size one and you can put a good amount in it. In the corner near the window is a nice desk with a chair and a lamp on the desk. There is a good size flat screen television I would say of roughly 42 inch siz4e abve the dresser. It was connected to cable television and there were numerious stations on containing the basics. Overall, the room was decently spacious and not crowded. You could easily walk around even with several people moving around. The hotel serves breakfast in the morning as part of your hotel stay. They served cereal and pancakes as the main course. The only fruit was oranges. The breakfast area is in the lounge that consist of restaurant booths. I was told this served dinner on Thursdays to Saturdays only. Overall, the breakfast was good. The lounge is off the main lobby opposite the main desk. I should point out that from the time I arrived on a Sunday morning to Wednesday there were hardly any guests at the hotel. Sort of made me wonder about the hotel's survival but that quickly changed on Wednesday night and especially Thursday. The day I left I saw a large motorcoach bus parked and most of the parking lot filled with cars. It was shocking from the past few days. I asked the front desk who all these peole were and I was told it was a track and field team along with parents of OU students who were graduating. I can imagine this hotel being full or nearly full on OU football weekend hom games in the fall and possibly for the OU basketball home game in the winter. This hotel would be a delight to sports fan, espeically Sooner fans with all the Sooner memorablia in the hallways and inside the rooms. And it is not only sports players but also cheerleaders. My mother recognized one of them from her time at OU in the late 1950s. Hence, it gave the hotel a personal touch and not a germane standard hotel look and feel if you understand what I mean. Forgot to mention Wifi is free and signal in my room was decent. There is an access code which the front desk will give to access it after connecting. The hotel is not the Waldorf Astoria but decent enough to stay in at a reasonable price in a good location. Again for Sooner fans since West Lindsey street is the gateway to the OU campus, about 1 mile from the hotel. In general, I would stay at this hotel again. I had a good feel while I was there. I felt safe walking West Lindsey at night with the street lights. I also felt safe in the parking lot in the hotel.

    visiting family

My husband and I traveled from Arkansas to visit my brother in Newcastle. We had been traveling since 3 that morning and had visited other family along the way. Not sports fans at all but at 10 that night we just wanted a shower and a bed. Also, we didn't bring any critters with us and certainly didn't want to bring any back home so we wanted some place that had a good rating. We were looking for a place that had at least 4 stars on tripadvsor. The young man that checked us in was really nice and accomodating. Our room was clean, large shower, clean and comfortable king bed. Plenty of hot water for our showers. They have a nice breakfast buffet from 6-9am. We didnt get there til 830 and was not really expecting much but they kept hot and fresh food out there til 9. If you're not a breakfast person and just want to sleep in their checkout is at noon. We checked out about 10 the next morning and Phyllis was there to make sure we had a nice stay, which we did, thank you Phyllis! We don't travel but maybe once a year to visit family and friends in Oklahoma. When we go back next year we will likely stay there again.

    Fantastic stay

Long weekend for a college visit and football game. Super friendly staff, clean large rooms, tons of breakfast options and onsite bar/restaurant. The decor is absolutely fascinating filled with sooner legends.

    Go somewhere else

Our group stayed New Years Eve. We had ground level rooms all the same , old dated and musty. The hotel used to be pet friendly and still smells like it. Carpet nasty and dusty all over room. No restaurant but some greasy food served in the bar where one of our group had phone stolen. Complimentary breakfast was fair at best. Was really disappointed with the property. We were really looking forward to the stay and the OU memorabilia but turned out to be a big disappointment.
