No consideration for those requiring barrier-free access! We inquired about the availability of accessible rooms and were told one was available. That is what we booked and it was confirmed as accessible in the booking confirmation. When we turned up at the hotel we discovered that we needed to overcome 10 steps to get to the room. As the hotel was full and it was already 9 pm there were no other options. Although we were granted a small discount on the room rate we were still very angry that our request, that had been confirmed by the hotel, was not honored. The rooms were supposedly modernly furnished, but our room was a relic from the 80's given the style of the lampshades. Also, the bed creaked constantly and the mattress lacked any support. According to their website they have more modern rooms but clearly, as the last people to arrive, we were not necessarily given what we booked but just what was left over. All in all a most unsatisfactory experience.

Weekend trip with FriendsWe spend 2 nights in this hotel. Everything was perfect, nothing to complain. we breakfast buffet was excellent, lot of choises, the rooms were nice and clean with a nice balcony. There is also a big indoor pool, the water has the perfect temparture. in the evening we had diner in their restaurant , it was just excellent! The service was very friendly, nothing to complain ! we will definitly come again! in regards to the location, we are close from everything. on the first day, we left the hotel by foot and made a 7km walk that we choose from the Schwarzwaldapp. in the afternoon we went to Todnau (35mins drive). The Feldberg and Titisee are also very close by.

The most amazing restaurant.Stayed at the excellent partner hotel accross the road, Hotel Sonnenhof. Absolutely stunning place, superb rooms with excellent facilities and attention to detail. Beautiful through and through. The staff were very attentive, couldn't do enough. The breakfast buffet was by far the best and most extensive I have ever seen. The pool and sauna facilities were excellent, we thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing swim and sauna before our evening meal. The food in the Sonnhalde restaurant was absolutely stunning! The best food we had eaten in Germany anywhere. The portions were massive, the attention to detail with eveything was amazing. Incredibly beautiful presentation, very tasty and we were just overwhelmed by how lovely everything was. The waitress was very good(from Portugal), so polite and helpful. English menus! I had the mixed fish with salad which was just divine and my partner had a gourmet burger- which he said was the best he had ever had! The Black Forest sundae was just to die for! Will return to this amazing place- simply excellent. It was a bit pricey, but so worth it.

Rude budget guesthouse with poisonous restaurantWe stayed 3 nights while hiking in the local area. The room was clean and functional but quite hot. With the door open to the little, not very enticing balcony we did get fresh air and nice views but also heard the bats and the church bells all night... there was also something living in the wall behind our bathroom fan. So we didn't sleep well. Breakfast was pretty good apart from the weak coffee, which seems to be everywhere in Germany. You had to pay an extra euro to get a "special coffee" (e.g. cappuccino), but we didn't bother as I don't expect it suddenly would have wowed. This is by no means a spa hotel - yes there is a poky little indoor pool, but it was filled with kids the one time we considered going, so now very appealing. Sadly, the hotel staff seemed to be bored and irritated by English-speaking tourists (although I'd be surprised if they speak Swedish when they take a trip to OUR home country...) The reception staff was so rude to me on checkout, having just gushed over a German couple departing slightly before us. We didn't pay much for this place, so all in all thought it was alright value for the area given we were out hiking all day anyway. One catch is that the only place to eat is their restaurant over the road. On our last evening we got sat at a table directly under an automatic sprayer that we realised was pumping out neurotoxic insecticide every 5 minutes to kill the flies (is that even legal from EU health and safety standpoint?!). I wouldn't want to eat their again. Shame, as the food was not too bad. Although the manager also had a horrible dismissive attitude towards us because we never booked (the restaurant was never more than one third full...!) So, on second thoughts, I reckon there are other places worth a shot before coming back here.
