    Lovely hotel

    My partner and I stayed here from 26th September for 7 nights. We arrived late at the hotel so unfortunately missed dinner, however the hotel provided a couple of a sandwiches, some cake, an apple and a bottle of water each which was greatly appreciated at that time of night. We stayed in room 112 on the ground floor and our room faced the road. Would have preferred at pool facing room but this was a last minute booking so cant complain. The room itself was very spacious. Double bed, two chairs, a good size wardrobe and a very good bathroom with shower over a bathtub. Rooms were cleaned everyday day and towels changed everyday too. The only issue with the room is that the corridor leading to the ground floor rooms is directly off the reception area so we could hear lots of noise on a couple of occasions coming from the reception. The pool area was lovely. Plenty of sunbeds. Get a sun bed closest to the bar area as these get the sun all day long. The pool was a good size and there is a smaller kids pool too. The bar area was nice (inside and out) with a decent selection of drinks and snacks available. We were all inclusive so stuck to cocktails as the few times we had the beer it had an eggy smell. Tasted okay but the smell was off putting. Restaurant is downstairs and can be accessed inside or directly from the pool area and there are tables inside and outside. Breakfast was standard all inclusive type food. Bread, cereal, meat, cheese and also cooked breakfast including eggs, bacon, beans, sausages and omelettes. Only had lunch twice and it was okay. Standard selection of food, pasta, rice and salad etc. We only had dinner once on our first night, went down the second night and the choice was the same so ate out after that. The hotel is about a 5min walk to the resort centre. Head out, turn right and head to the main road and turn right again. Plenty of shops, bars, cafes and restaurants to be enjoyed. Location was ideal as I imagine being any closer to the main strip in Malia in high season would be extremely noisy! The staff at the hotel were all super friendly and even advised we could pay for a late checkout since our flight wasnt until 11pm which was ideal. Would recommend this hotel to families and couples as its a decent hotel close the Malia centre but you also feel like youre able to relax in peace too.

    Wonderful staff

    Lovely clean hotel . I stayed in the annex which I loved . Food was excellent . Staff were amazing and really looked after me as I was on my own . Stelios , Delis( bar/ restaurant manager) and miss efi . Great people a credit to the hotel .

    An Honest Review

    Pros * Helpful service * Nice facilities * Close to nightlife but not noisy * Clean rooms and pool Cons * Problems with electricity in first few days * Sometimes a poor variety of food * Pay for same room but some better than others * Paid for WiFi which doesnt reach rooms We stayed at Solimar Ruby Hotel from 24th June - 1st July, we were a group of 7 girls going for a relaxing holiday but to also enjoy the nightlife in Malia. Overall our stay at the hotel was pleasant and everything we expected it to be for the price we paid for our all inclusive experience. We had a lovely warm welcome at the hotel where they postponed the lunch service for our arrival. After going to our rooms (we had 2 downstairs and 1 upstairs) we were worried about being next to the road however the room had metal shutters which was reassuring but it only worked in one of the rooms downstairs. Lots of reviews complained about the noise of the road but this didnt seem to be a problem for us. In the evening the electricity cut out meaning not only no AC, plugs or lights but no drinks... even water! This was a problem but was quickly sorted within the hour however, it occurred in one of the rooms later on in the week to the point we almost had to move rooms and meant we had to use our friends room for the day. Additional charges were expensive for what you got we paid 20 for a safe that couldnt even fit an iPad in it and 20 for WiFi which didnt reach the top floor. On top of this the facilities were clean perfect for families as well as friends holidays there was a mixture of age groups there. There was a daily room cleaning service which was helpful and the restaurant service was excellent. Sometimes with the buffet there was a lack of variety but that came expected. The bar is a friendly social area in the evenings with a range of drinks however, we found the same drink would alternate in colours each time we ordered it! The 7 of us all paid the same price for the holiday however, it was clear some rooms were better than others some had poor water pressure, metal shutter didnt work, AC was temperamental and we found the spare bed in the room of 3 was uncomfortable. Overall the staff were friendly and the 24 hour desk service was helpful, for younger audiences the nightlife is only a 10min walk to the strip but the noise cant be heard from the hotel so is ideal for everyone.

    Absolutely exceeded our expectations!

    We have stayed in this hotel with my husband in May 2019 and could not recommend it high enough! The staff is amazing and works very, very hard to satisfy all guests. The food always varies and is plentiful and fresh. Drinks are nicely prepared and tase lovely. The facilities are great too and very clean with everyday room service. Beach is about 15 min walk but pools are great and we spent most of our days there. There isnt one thing I could fault this hotel for! Just dont understand why its only 3*? It should be definitely more.
