Really nice Swiss experienceWe spend one nite at this small hotel located at the Swiss Alps on our route to Innsbruck trough the julierpass road. The room was no big deal but comfortable and clean. Very quiet place, great for a nice rest and located on an easy walking distance to the small town of Bivio and let me tell you that the view to the mountains around is just awesome. Small, quite and charming neighborhood and the saff is super friendly and the Hotel even have a great restaurant with local delicious swiss style food. Strongly recommended. Did I say the view to the town and mountains is fantastic? Thank you and greetings from Costa Rica :)

Rustic hotel, friendly staff, delicious foodSolaria is a very nice rustic-style hotel which doesn't look big from the outside but is a bit Tardis-like inside as there are corridors and stairs going off all over the place. It's rather intriguing, and worth having a wander around as the various corridors contain interesting old pictures and artifacts. And if you're travelling with the family and the weather turns bad there's a nice, big, comfy family room with TV, books and games. As previous reviews have mentioned the bedrooms are a bit basic, but on the plus side they're pretty big. I booked a single room but it was really large, with plenty of floor space and a roomy bathroom. However one thing I noticed was the lighting is pretty dim, particularly in the bathroom. In terms of the room itself, the mini bar wasn't working and was empty anyway and, as I noticed in another Swiss hotel, the curtains were almost transparent so the room got light very early in the morning. Maybe this is a trait of hotels in Switzerland to persuade you get up early and enjoy the scenery! And in terms of enjoying the scenery, the rooms at the front have a balcony which is nice but note that the balcony isn't partitioned so you share it with one or two other rooms. It wasn't a problem during my stay as those rooms were unoccupied but it could be a bit annoying if you have noisy neighbours. Also be aware that there's no lift, so not only are there steps up to the front entrance of the hotel but you also have a few flights of stairs to deal with inside. This could be tricky with a heavy case, and if you have disability issues then access could be a problem. However, there are two very good reasons to come to Solaria for a break; first, the staff, who are really friendly and chatty and most of them speak good English. Second, the food, which is delicious! A really good range of food at breakfast, including some delicious home-made bread and brioche. And at dinner, a really extensive menu with lots of choice between typical 'mountain' food, fish and vegetarian options. I had tagliatelle with saffron, prawns and courgettes and it was fabulous. And the price was pretty good, for Switzerland. Also if you like dining early dinner starts at 5.30. A word about Bivio. It's small! And it contains more or less nothing in terms of shops and facilities. So don't expect to spend your evenings strolling round town as it would take you about 10minutes. However, if you like trekking it's a good base as there are plenty of walks in all directions.

Nice, typically SwissThe hotel had a lot of character, the corridors and stairs seemed a bit random but the room and facilities were great. Staff were friendly with great food in the restaurant and for breakfast. The view of the mountain wasnt the best but it wasnt a problem. We could at least see a view.

Authentic mountain hospitalityStayed overnight several times, had the special hunters dinner twice, was a fantastic evening with large assortment of foods and great live entertainment, get prepared to go to bed late, well worth the stay.

A 3-star worth every pennyHotel Solaria is a very good "bang for your buck" option. Bivio is a very quiet place (at least in August), on the Juliet pass road and with plenty of hiking options at your disposal. The hotel is very clean, rooms are nice (in a Swiss ski hotel style), the personnel extremely friendly. We went there using s Hotelcard deal, and frankly it was worth more than what we paid for. Good breakfast, too.
