  Romantic Turimso Rural, very nice owners, local restaurants in walking distance, free Wifi, Pool

  If you want to stay in a cosy romantic old house (with only 12 rooms) with nice details, wooden floors, high ceilings etc. this is the your place. Stay away if you expect a 5* Hotel. It is more a Turismo Rural than a 3* hotel but offers a nice pool in the backyard, free Wifi and parking lots. The owner family is very nice, speaks excellent English (so it's easy to communicate). We didn't follow Jaime's recommendation to have dinner at "Alfonsos" but went to Retiro Cacacha which offers local stuff for low local prices (I prefer restaurants which offer the traditional "meia dose" half portion). Nothing to hype about but cheap and good. There are some minor reasons why I don't want to give 5of5: I had the feeling that attention to detail was missing a bit: the office area looks chaotic and with a bit small efforts they could make the breakfast (and restaurant) area a bit more inviting (e.g. table clothes) Absolutely recommend for some days (weekend getaway)

  Highly recommended

  We thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay in this delightfully renovated country mansion. Our host was convivial and full of interesting stories,facts and history of the region, it's food, wine, traditions and attraction s which added to our enjoyment. We highly recommend the hotel restaurant for traditional food and wine all prepared and served with care and attention. Our room was very comfortable,large with a balcony and decorated in antiques. The bathroom was equally well presented. For a quiet getaway or to discover a taste of the real Portugal a visit here will not disappoint.

  Bike Adventures Cycling Portugal North to South

  We stayed at this comfortable, friendly family run hotel on our journey. The staff were helpful and the hotelier was able to share, in very good English, his knowledge about the cuisine, culture, history and geography of the area. The chef prepared us a delicious four course meal with wine for 20 euros each which was excellent, and as a vegetarian it was my best meal of the whole tour.

  Our Second Visit.

  Our second visit to this lovely hotel, the last visit was some two years earlier. Happy to say that we once again enjoyed our stay at The Solar Dos Lilases. The hosts are still the same and as helpful and charming as ever. If you are in the area, stay here. Happy memories of another fab holiday to Portugal.
