Fantastic HotelWe spent Christmas and New Year hear and had a great time, all the staff were very helpful and the entertainers were superb. This is a lovely hotel but if you have walking difficulties this is not the place for you unless of course you have a buggy. Food excellent, pool excellent, room excellent and facilities great. We were a party of 3 generations from four years to sixty five and all had a wonderful time.

Clean, acceptable, but essentially not much good. Better to go to Hotel SantiagoI stayed here because the place I usually stay at (Hotel Santiago just around the corner) was full. Santiago is hardly my favourite hotel, having various issues, but it outshines Hotel Sol. So, the good: Hotel Sol is clean, and has plentiful hot water. The AC works well. That's about it. The bad: not one of the staff members speaks either English or French (unlike the santiago, where most speak one or both), so comms are difficult if you're not Lusophone. The rooms, whilst acceptable/functional, are very old and dated, and the bed is small. The toilet (in my room at least) didn't flush properly. There was also a very weird light fitting in my room - a bulb on a wire extending down from the ceiling to about 1 m away from the floor, right in the middle of the room in front of the desk. There is nowhere sensible to put ones suitcase. The lift outside the room made a lot of noise. The breakfast is miserable, and the breakfast restaurant is equally miserable and drab. No outside space is available. Finally, and worse of all for me, the internet is basically unusable. Overall, it's ok at a push, but you'll be far better of at the Santiago.

4 day breakWe are on day 4 of a short break. I can honestly say I cannot understand the negative reviews of this hotel. It is as good as any 3 star I have visited and better than some. Very conveniently situated between Vilamoura Marina and Quarteria. Hotel very clean and modern. Breakfast good. Staff helpful. Very pleasant break.

Family holidayHotel was amazing in ways, lovely pools and staff.. let down by the maids who only put 1 clean towel in your room each day if your lucky. The amount of times we had to wait a hour for just a towel, became a joke. Food was a let down. For English eaters there was only plain pasta and basically salad and bread. We got a bit sad by this, and there isnt a shop that sells your essentials so make sure you bring everything. And the hotel broke my suitcase on delivery to our room. But w shave had fun, the beach is nice at late afternoon, they have a sax player or a dj on, while you watch the sun set. I dont think I will return to this hotel, but its defo worth staying in.. just a few things need changing here and there. The town is scary at first, but then its fine, not many places to eat, but if you find the right ones, delicious
