Quaint place to stay between Zion and Bryce

Nice little place to stay in between Zion and Bryce National Parks. It's an old establishment but with nice garden and very nice host (Rochelle and Mike). I stayed there for 3 nights. Rochelle was helpful in giving information and accommodating for breakfast. Breakfast were really good - specially the waffle. Room was big with huge bed. It was clean but with funky smell. There was AC and tv which I never turned on. Room had small fridge and microwave too. Bathroom was bit small. Shower - water pressure was too high and it did not work properly. Handwashing soap was bit too liquid-y(I think too much water was added in it). It wasn't useful at all. She did have soap and shampoo in the bathroom thou. There was wifi in the hotel but for stronger signal, you had to come down and be in specific spot thou it did work pretty well in room too. There are no eateries around the area. One should eat before they come to the hotel. All-in-all - pretty nice, old place to stay for few nights ...almost....in the middle or no where.

    Clean, quiet and comfortable

We had a relaxing and restful stay at the Smith Hotel. Our room was spacious with a king bed. Internet worked well. We had a delicious breakfast of quiche and croissants with homemade jam. Our hosts were very kind. We enjoyed visiting with them after breakfast.

    Historic and Wonderful

Not the location we thought it would be ( on Main St not in a secluded wooded lot) but don't judge an Inn by its location. Rochelle and Mike are fantastic Innkeepers and provided a convenient, comfortable and friendly place to explore the nearby National Parks. Great breakfasts and conversations around the breakfast table. The rooms were spacious and clean. I would encourage everybody to consider staying there.

Expensive Bed & Breakfast for a Quaker Instant Oatmeal packet breakfast and a lecture from host on ones life choices

In 2017 my husband and I got married and decided to do a road trip honeymoon through Utah's National Parks. I just got around to write a review about our experience at the Smith Hotel Bed & Breakfast. My husband, being a careful planner established communication with Rochelle prior to booking a reservation to ask questions pertinent to the place and the meals being served. We both eat a vegan diet (no meat, dairy, eggs or animal products) and he informed that to Rochelle, asking if she knew what that entailed; she assured him she was aware of vegan diets and that would not be a problem at all. Even though the place seemed expensive for our budget , around $125 for one night, my husband decided to splurge since we would be served a vegan breakfast the morning after our stay. We had a good night's sleep and were looking forward to a good vegan breakfast. In the morning, at the breakfast table, Rochelle offered us a "breakfast bread pudding", my husband wanting to confirm our request for a vegan friendly meal asked her if the breakfast bread pudding was vegan and she said "yes!" Excitedly he asked her what was in the breakfast bread pudding; Rochelle said: "bread, eggs, cheese, milk and butter." My husband told Rochelle that her breakfast bread pudding was not vegan but she quickly replied "It's vegetarian!" My husband tried to clarify to her that vegan and vegetarian diets are NOT the same and tried to explain the difference. An older gentleman sitting with his wife at our table noticed Rochelle's puzzled look on her face and explained to her the difference between vegan and vegetarian diets and pointing out that her breakfast read pudding was vegetarian and not vegan. Rochelle's husband interjected after this and my husband told him that he specifically asked her before booking the reservation about vegan options and that Rochelle assured him it would not be a problem and she was familiar with vegan diets. To this statement my husband was met with a aggressive arguments and excuses from Rochelle's husband as to how difficult, inconvenient and expensive it would be for them to buy vegan friendly food products since they don't get guests with vegan diets. He then went on to lecture us about vegan diets and scold us for our life choices. We both were dumbfounded and did not even try to engage with this man that by raising his voice seemed aggravated and put off by our inquiry and request of vegan meal for which we were paying and had requested even before the time of booking. Luckily for us, the gentleman sitting at our table noticed the aggressive and negative attitude of Rochelle's husband and engaged with us in conversation and helped diffuse a tense and unpleasant rant from Rochelle's husband, by doing that her husband focused in conversing with another couple sitting at a different table. Rochelle seemed to be scrambling in the kitchen to find something to offer us for breakfast; we ended up with a breakfast of a banana and Quaker Instant Oatmeal packets which we prepared ourselves with hot water. Needless to say, this was an unpleasant stay at the Smith Hotel Bed & Breakfast and an expensive one that served Quaker Instant Oatmeal packets for breakfast and a heavy lecture and scolding from the host with no apology or even acknowledgement for their mistake. Instead, we had a lecture and scolding from the host who made us feel unwelcomed at their breakfast table. We will not be booking a reservation again or recommend this place.

Tucked away in a perfect location close to the great National Parks of Southern Utah and Northern Arizona

We just loved this B&B. Rochelle and Mike were very friendly and the breakfasts were home-cooked and delicious. The rooms were rustic and quite comfortable. If you're looking for a city experience, this ain't the place. But, if you enjoy a cozy, small town, with that personal touch, this is your place. The best thing, we found, was the local knowledge shared by Rochelle and Mike, something you won't get from a hotel. They gave some 'secret' sights in the Grand Staircase that were spectacular and that someone not from the area would miss. We can't thank them enough and will stay there again!
