Buyer BewareBooked a weekend trip from New York. We were in between Skytop and Woodloch pines. We eventually decided to go with Skytop. With their Christmas package, our total came close to 800 dollars for two nights. The first night was fine where we did some of the resort activities, ate at the Windsor restaurant, and had some cocktails at the Library. We did book a small reservation to do ice skating. The concierge explained it needed two hours cancellation, but neglected to say they would asses a charge if not cancelled. Fast forward to the day of ice skating. We got caught up with an event outside of the lodge causing us not make the ice skating. We called the resort one hour prior to the time and spoke to the concierge named Tiffany. Tiffany explained that it would be a 20 dollar charge if we were to cancel not within two hours and we would be billed. If you are wondering what twenty dollars is, it is the price of the rental of the skates. Tiffany kept reiterating that it is a strict policy and could not do anything on her end to alleviate the 20 dollar charge. Tiffany reached out to the manager and the manager did not have the guts to get on the phone to tell us it isa zero tolerance policy. I even tried to even say if we could use the twenty dollars to something else like cocktails in the library lounge, which stated was not allowed. The best she would do was cancel and still 20 dollars which means nothing. In the end, this hotel rather care about 20 dollars than making the customer happy. After spending close to 1000 dollars and tipping the individuals who make this place run, the management and resort does not care about its occupants and rather nickel and dime you about activities. They did not care if a negative review was left. Things happen and these people do not have a heart especially when we are on vacation. I will not recommend this place just on principle and never come here again. 20 dollars is small, but in the end the way we felt at the end of this interaction ruined our trip and will make us to not recommend it to anyone else. If management wasn't willing to work with you on something small, what makes you think they would do something for something serious. Stay away

Get away and get refreshedNeeded to get out of the house and Skytop was definitely the right choice. Even though PA shut down indoor dining, we had an excellent filet mignon dinner from the Windsor dining room delivered to our room! Walked on all the beautiful trails and then enjoyed hot chocolate and cookies in the Pine Room while we relaxed near the fire with Christmas music playing the whole time. Beautiful Christmas decorations are everywhere. Watched from several different views as a huge snowstorm fell all around. The breakfast was also so good and delivered to our room. We had the breakfast sandwich on a bagel and my husband said it was the best breakfast sandwich he ever had. That's saying a lot because he's from New York and he always said the best breakfast sandwiches only came from New York! If you have a choice of staying home or coming here to Skytop before or after Christmas definitely come to Skytop. We are totally refreshed and ready to go back to the grind but we will be back very, very soon and will be telling everyone about this oasis from the outside world.

Ok trip - could have been betterI was very excited to get away on a mini vacation with my family. We had a few dissapointments along the way. I reached out about 1 month before my trip to schedule dinner, activities, etc. I emailed back and forth with a concierge (Tiffany). She booked a dinner for us which was great but I also asked to book skiing, snow tubing and skating. I was told skiing was not open until President's weekend so she did not book skating nor snow tubing at that time and recommended I reach out to book a few days prior to my trip. I emailed her again 4 days before my trip and after a bit of back and forth I was unclear of what reservations were confirmed. For the next two days I followed up and receive no response from her. I then called to confirm the reservations I had 1 day prior to my trip and was told that I only had a ski lesson booked and the person i spoke with (Tara) was surprised it was still in the system as a deposit wasn't recorded. At the tail end of my conversation with Tiffany she mentioned a deposit was required for the ski lesson but did not ask me to call in to make the deposit. I expressed my frustration to Tara who then had an events person call me the following day who booked me for snow tubing luckily. Prior to that Tara informed me that reservations for activities should really be requested via phone. At no point did Tiffany suggest I pick up the phone and call nor did I think I needed to. In this day and age a lot can be done via email so I thought I was taken care of. Fast forward, we arrive for our weekend getaway and the staff is very friendly from the bell men to the front desk staff. We checked in early (WIN) and relaxed a bit before our snow tubing activity. The snow tube staff were wonderful! They all were very friendly, welcoming and made the activity super fun for the family. We then chose to go swimming but the pool was full and we had to wait for a few people to leave before going in which was fine. We were able to get a dinner reservation at the Tap Room for 8:30pm. The atmosphere was casual, the staff was friendly but the food is pretty bad. We ordered a ceasar salad and marguerita pizza to share for me and my husband and my daughters ordered off the kids meal. Theirs was ok but ours was not very good at all.
