New hotel with potentialThis new facility only opened at Christmas. It will be quite a large hotel with an interesting modern design. Parts of the building are still unfinished so you take it as you find it. The rooftop dining terrace and bar are not yet ready. And because it's new there are very few guests hence the offer to bring breakfast to your room, which we ate out on the terrace. With those points in mind, we really enjoyed our 3 night stay. We got a great rate of 1500bt per night for a huge room with enormous bathroom. OK, some aspects are still new and bedding-in, but we loved the location right at the southern end of the island, great views, easy access to several of the best beaches, and staff trying their best.

New Open !!!New open! We stayed 3 nights in a huge room. It's was very clean and the view was beautiful. The staff is very nice, but not everyone speaks english. It's pretty faraway from the Harbor and other places, but they come pick you up when you arrive. And after you have to rent scooter at the reception. Koh Lanta without renting scooter isn't worth it anyway. They also bring your breakfast to your room :)) -> Toast, eggs, ham, coffee. We don't really like this kind of breakfast, so we could choose our own: pancakes, coconut and tea. Yumi! In general, the Hotel is good, clean and rooms are perfect. I recommande it :)

Great Staff but hotel needs workWhen we arrived, Sky Terrace seemed short on staff...as the place appeared to not be kept up. The rooms were musty and the air con in our room didn't work. They moved us to an upgrade with a view of the bay so that was kind of the manager. The breakfasts were good and the kitchen staff even gave us a change of menu (khaow tom) since American breakfast was what they offered every day. The rooms were not cleaned up at all during our 3 night stay. The hallways were not swept and glass doors were all smudged. The pool was not really a pool and I would not want to swim in it. But the staff were kind and tried their best to be accommodating. The place was fine but needs to be kept up. If we return to Koh Lanta, we probably won't stay here again.

Nice location, but needs workThis hotel needs some work to be worth what they're charging. The rate is among the higher ones on the island, and for that, one should expect the basics to be in order. We were never able to get in touch with anyone from the hotel for days prior to arriving on the island. While most hotels provide a pickup service (which this one was supposed to do), we never got a response to repeated calls, and overspent on a cab ride to the hotel from the pier. Upon arrival, we were told they were sorry, but only had two drivers. No offer to make good on the cab ride . . . Plumbing was a nightmare, and it reared its ugly head on New Years Eve. Many guests were unable to shower until late in the evening, throwing plans into a tailspin. If you do book here, ask for a room that is clear of the power lines. The view could be wonderful if it weren't for the transformer mere feet away from the balcony. Also, get a personal telephone number from one of the staff. If you need anything (like a ride to the pier) early in the morning, there will be no one there to help you - even if you had scheduled it the day before . . . We like the rather remote location which borders the national park on the island. The beaches on the south end of the island are also less crowded and you can find yourself alone there regularly. Rent a motorbike. It may take a while for them to secure one for you, but it's the only way to get around the island - especially from this hotel. For what it's worth, they're trying hard, but it appears to be a large operation run by a couple of family members with no hotel experience. Once construction is completed and they hire a full-time staff, it will likely come into its own, but for now, it's still a work in progress.
