  Great staff and food, but poor management decisions

  We stayed here for 6 nights having taken advantage of the dinner, bed and breakfast offer. The offer included a 4 course table d'hôte evening meal that changed every night. We had this the first two nights and it was excellent. However on the 3rd night we were told that they had switched to a 3 course à la carte menu and that our booking included a £30 allowance. The menu was the same every night. The staff were excellent and we did come to a compromise. However if you are staying more than a couple of nights, the new arrangement does mean you could end up having the same dish more than once. I should mention that the portion sizes were larger with the à la carte menu and the food was still good. The good thing is that the staff were excellent, friendly helpful and welcoming.

  Well sited, excellent hotel.

  Our 'classic' room was very comfortable. All staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Breakfast and dinner were both excellent. We stayed in November and the weather was poor with long evenings. No problem. We sat in the conservatory part of the bar and watched the world go by on Keswick Main Street. A real fire provided atmosphere in the main bar.

  Excellent, safe restaurant

  Booked for an evening meal on a Friday night, we had to wait in line before being warmly greeted by a member of staff. We were shown to our table,everyone was social distances and all staff wore face coverings.We had the 4 course menu £29.95 (excellent value),which included shrimp cakes, soup, fillet steak and cheese board.The guest ale was £3.90.Service was spot on, which you expect in a hotel of this standing but on a very busy evening with extra hygiene measures in place it made for an excellent safe dining experience.

  Excellent Visit

  Was lovely to visit the Skiddaw Hotel. I spent Boxing day there entertaining guests in the dining room. I was singing while the guests had Dinner. The whole time I felt that the staff were excellent in making the hotel feel safe and secure for guests. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend you book a visit there. A lovely bunch of people with kind comments about the Hotel and Entertainment. It's a great place and has had a revamp through the parts of the hotel that I saw. Very impressed well done to everyone.

  Great family rooms

  And really friendly staff. The family room was amazing, 2 individual rooms so great that kids can sleep while we watched a bit more tv. We had a lovely meal in the conservatory, staff really friendly and helpful. Great nights sleep followed by an amazing breakfast ready for our full day walking! We will be back.
