  Recovery Oasis

  Singgasana Hotel in Surabaya is perfect for recreation after long car rides in Java, for example to the volcanoes in eastern Java. The hotel, consisting of mainly bungalow rooms, is situated in a lush tropical garden and has a huge pool. Its not quite in the city center (but thren Surabaya is not an exactly bright touristic star) but convenient to reach the airport within 20 to 30 minutes. Besides the relaxing and beautiful setting the hotel offers extremely delicious morning and evening buffets, featuring mainly Indonesian dishes. The buffet chef proudly explains you what the dishes are and what they consist of. The rooms are large enough, however the bathroom appliances have seen better times. Everything is very clean, though, and all the staff are extremely kind and helpful. So complaints remain on a very low level considering the whole setting. The hotel is an oasis in a very busy metropolis.

  Oasis in the middle of city

  Stayed at this hotel with my family. Loved the greenery & animals in the hotel. The breakfast was good, the pools were awesome. The rooms were old but clean. The price nothing can beat it. Perfect for weekend escape from the hustle and bustle of the city (except when they have wedding reception).

  A wonderful stay at an oldie but a goodie

  As a TripAdvisor hall of fame award-winning hotel manager and Bali, I am usually pretty picky when it comes to hotels. For a fraction of what it would cost most places the world, we secured a large two room Suite 4 my wife and I and a close by normal hotel room for my children. Our suite was close to the pool which is exactly what I requested in a quiet area of the hotel. The hotel rooms are older and as is normal with folder hotels a little tired but exceptionally good quality and appreciated the original hardwood floors. The pool is large but unfortunately, we were advised half an hour after we got there that there was a close pool for maintenance. It was my hotel I would've done it after 7 PM so the guests could enjoy the pool. One of the nice features was free bicycles available at the front entrance which my 11-year-old son and wife jumped on shortly after checking and I went for a nice ride. The location close to the freeway was perfect therefore avoiding Surabaya's often gridlocked traffic. A very unique feature was discovered the next morning as I was walking later on when I brought my sons out that they have live dear including one with us substantial horns who hang around the reception looking for free treats. One word of caution the block with his big horns can get a little aggressive when you give them a treat the likes. There was a great buffet the next morning.

  Great to return to after Volcano excursion

  This was a great hotel to return to after an exhausting excursion visiting Mt Ijen and Bromo. It's a spacious old resort style hotel with a massive pool. The grounds are full of deer, geese, and animals. Quite quirky. Good breakfast. Friendly staff. Good value for money. Easy taxi ride to Ciputra World for food and shopping.

  Tired once grand hotel Surabaya

  Very tired old Once grand Indonesian style hotel. Beds really comfortable. Receptionist Yuni fabulous customer service. Really nice staff. The place needs a damn good scrub. The pool had so much algae that I thought I was standing on a furry animal. Really they are trying to keep a huge sprawling hotel going that is just not being maintained AT ALL. They would be better to de commission part of it and spruce up a small section. If it was clean and had a clean pool I would rather stay in this style of hotel than a high rise. I hope they can do something to bring back to life this tired old girl. They clearly have good staff. They need a refurbishment and maintenance plan and start with pool and scrubbing the rooms into every corner.
