  No complaints about the staff and we were shown to our room, parking allocated right outside the unit, we really like the little balcony with table and chairs, the ashtray on the table was full of old cigarette butts. The room smelt clean upon entering, the bathroom smelled mouldy and the Batman was left on the floor and it was sipping wet. We went out for a few hours and returned to the unit and opened the door and were greeted with a overpowering smell of mould and mustiness, had to sleep with the windows open to try and air room out. It was cheap but very dated. I guess you get what you pay for

  I have recently stayed at the siesta motel and two of the single beds were wet and the walls and doors were dripping and the queen bed had two sheets with a blanket in the middle for the duvet. dont recommend

  Auckland Armageddon weekend

  We had traveled to Auckland for the Armageddon event at ASB show grounds and pretty much searched for rooms in the general area based on price, Siesta motel was one of the cheapest and so maybe our hopes weren't too high thinking that it was just going to be a place to spend a night or two. We were very pleasantly surprised, everything about the room looked brand new and spotless, it had cooking facilities, a bathroom that looked amazing and had a shower with enough pressure to knock you over. The comfortable KING size bed with awesome foam pillows was so nice. Our room faced onto Great South road but there was no road noise at all. The lady on the front desk was very friendly and helpful, genuinely interested in our stay and experience, we left the car at the motel most of the weekend and walked to ASB showgrounds, a little bit of a hike but not too bad for anyone with average fitness, we grabbed an Auckland Transport hop card from the nearest dairy though and caught the bus back, the Number 70 bus stops directly outside the motel on Great south road and we used this to head into the city for dinner and a few drinks so we had no worries about driving or parking. Couldn't fault this place at all and will absolutely book again for next year, highly recommended.

  Shabby, tired but good location

  Shabby, tired motel that would have been a very desirable place to stay - in the late 80's though. The place was in dire need of general maintenance, amongst many other things that were used and needed replacing, old aluminium windows wobbling and rotting steps uneven, dodgy ranch-slider entrance with a well used ashtray outside added to air of rent-bed-by-the hour knocking shop vibe. Cute little chalets though, that again would have looked great once. Reception asked for ID immediately even though never stated anywhere when I booked must be provided upon arrival, you need to note this to all guests next time. Found this irritating as there was no welcome or how are you etc - straight to the ID BS. Unit would be fun if you stayed here 25 years ago with friends after a night out in town, but on own quite depressing. Bed sagging but comfortable enough, crappy condiments, but overall clean apart from few stray hairs on weird couch cover. Bit of traffic noise but nothing bad. Retro-fitted wall heater and surprisingly great shower. Overall, seems like a place someone would go to top themselves or have a sordid affair. Best thing apart from shower was the great location. Also beware you have to ASK them for WIFI password too it seems, not good.

  Coronavirus cancellation

  Unfortunately, we had to cancel our planned holiday to New Zealand due to the Coronavirus travel restrictions, as we were travelling from China. All components of our holiday, long haul flights, internal flights, car hire, booked excursions and all accommodation refunded our payments APART from Siesta Motel. We were able to give the manager (Ms Hong) a months notice and his first response was, we're informed that we can only waive off the cancellation fee for the customers travelling from Mainland China, as we were travelling from Shanghai we informed Ms Hong of this, his response then changed to, we can't waive your cancellation fee as it's not booked from affected areas. Booking.com were very helpful trying to assist with our refund request but Ms Hong was adamant we should be charged the full amount. I think this is very poor customer service and would wish to make this known to others who consider booking at Siesta Motel. Siesta motel have asked for a review, I wish Id never booked with them.
