  So glad to be back!

  We finally made it back to our "happy place" after being disappointed to have to cancel in April and June and it was definitely worth the wait. We were greeted as always by Jo and Andy on the car park, albeit at an appropriate social distance, and shown to our room. They have all the appropriate measures in place, ie hand sanitiser, no scatter cushions etc but it still feels special with the lovely spacious and spotlessly clean rooms decorated in Jo's perfect style. Breakfast is exceptional with the usual high quality local ingredients. They are serving a lovely hand prepared fruit salad to compensate for having to remove the breakfast bar and this was a perfect start before tucking into the cooked breakfast but leaving room for some toast and the selection of Jo's homemade jams or marmalade. The sound and view of the sea from our room made the world seem like it was "normal" and you could almost imagine coronavirus was a nightmare especially as we had beautiful sunny weather for most of our stay. This really is the perfect place and we can't wait to return.

  Perfection

  We booked a sea view suite and were not dissapointed, the room was spotless and very nicely decorated. The walk in shower was lovley and the bed very comfy. The hosts were absolutely wonderful, nothing was too much trouble for them. Location was idea for exploring and offered free parking. We loved it so much we stayed an extra night!!

  Most Excellent B&B

  From the moment Andy and Jo welcomed us in from their own car park we were impressed with the friendliness and help from them both. We had the Shanklin suite (reasonably priced) directly overlooking the sea and the sound of the waves. The bathroom and furniture were excellent, tv and unlimited tea and coffee etc and a small fridge - which if I am being fussy was a bit noisy so I unplugged it at night! Breakfast despite Covid restrictions was very good with much choice and we were both stuffed every morning. An excellent stay and for us almost faultless hospitality.

  One of the best B&Bs we have ever stayed in !

  Andy and Jo are the perfect hosts, so happy, welcoming and friendly. They run The Shoreside Inn with great expertise and enthusiasm, always going that extra mile to ensure your stay is very special, whilst recommending places you might like to visit and local restaurants. We found that it was best to book the restaurants well in advance - especially during busy periods. (We thoroughly enjoyed our meals at Pendleton's, The Cottage and The Aqua). Everything at Shoreside is well planned out - with measures in place to make you feel safe - in line with the current Covid regulations. On arrival, Andy and Jo came out to meet and greet us in the car park - and they helped us to our room with our luggage, while wearing masks and maintaining social distances of course. There are many things to like at The Shoreside Inn and one of the 'plusses' for us was the fact that it is an 'Adults Only' establishment. Also, there is a free private car park for Shoreside's guests to the rear of the property. This is a real bonus because many of the hotels/room rentals along the esplanade do not offer parking facilities, therefore parking on the road is expensive and near impossible during busy times. There are 8 rooms at The Shoreside Inn, including 2 ground floor sea view rooms (Numbers 7 and 8 which are separated by the reception area) as well as some excellent rooms on the upper floors (some with balconies and most of them offering lovely sea views). We booked 4 nights in Room 7 - with a king size bed - in August and we enjoyed our stay so much that we returned for 8 nights six weeks later ! This time we stayed in Room 8 with the twin beds made up as a super king size bed. Both of the ground floor rooms are spacious - however, Room 8 is the larger of the two. Our rooms offered everything we needed - and more. They were clean, beautifully decorated and modern. Both of the ground floor rooms have doors that lead directly out to your own private patio space with loungers, sunshades (in the summer months) chairs and a coffee table. A small fridge is provided in each room - as is fresh milk, bottled water, tea, coffee etc. - and a tube of jelly beans ! Our shower/WC rooms had a large walk-in shower - plus toiletries, face flannels, hand towels & bath towels are provided. Shoreside is in a perfect position with the beach and sea just across the road. Although it's located on the esplanade, it was quiet at night and we slept very well. There are plenty of restaurants, bars and other amenities within easy walking distance. Shanklin Chine (illuminated after dusk - but currently 'no exit' at the top entrance due to Covid restrictions) is nearby, as is Shanklin Old Village and Rylstone Gardens - where you may be lucky enough to see some red squirrels, as we did one afternoon. Covid measures and social distancing are currently in place at breakfast (which is cooked by Jo and served by Andy) in the comfortable breakfast room from 8.30 am to 9.30 am. A good choice of cereals etc. and cooked items (including vegetarian options) are on offer plus a fresh fruit salad - which we enjoyed every day. Jo makes her own preserves - and guests have a choice of her freshly-baked homemade pastries to either eat in or take away each day. (We loved the pecan and maple ones !) As they had to close during the lockdown earlier in the year, Jo and Andy are hoping that they will be able to keep The Shoreside Inn open to guests until mid December this year - so do visit if you can as you will not regret it. Many attractions around the island are open all year. If you book Shoreside with Jo and Andy directly you will get the best rate and they will give you a discount code to use when you book the ferry.   Fabulous just fabulous

  We stayed five nights at Shoreside over half term. Jo and Andy are simply the best hosts of any B&B I have ever stayed at. The room was large, comfortable, clean and well equipped. Bed was comfy, shower roomy and excellent water pressure. Jos breakfasts are hearty, tasty and plentiful. She even sneaks in a couple of take away pastries to keep you going through the morning. Andy is very helpful, a fount of knowledge about the island and things to do. You really couldnt ask for more.
